     OP - May 31, 2010, 07:22 PM

i notice the main people who hate(or scared?) the illuminati and freemasons(and lets not forget the devil worshippers!) are religious people.
they believe that they are behind all the wrong and the world and if you go on youtube there is a ton of videos
"exposing" artists and people in the entertainmant industry in general:

I don't know much about either group apart from the usual jokes and rumours floating about.

I'm not a 'conspiracy theory' kind of person, so I don't really buy into such groups being the big bad wolf that is hiding behind the curtains and running the show. The political, commercial and social world is far too complex for any one or two secret organizations to have a monopoly over global events.

I was never into conspiracy theories even as a Muslim - much less so now.

I don't believe there are such shadowy groups trying to control the world.

That doesn't mean there aren't people plotting and planning all sorts of stuff - that's human nature - but they are very visible and very fallible human beings. Nothing mysterious or secret about it.

I'm in the Illuminati but only for the orgies.

There are a small number of people who control most of the world - its called capitalism! And they are not ashamed about it and don't feel the need to be secretive; they do it openly!

Dreaming up a conspiracy is the easiest way for an idiot to feel empowered. No research, critical thought, or evidence required - just make up some bullshit, and suddenly you're the only one in the know; everyone who disagrees is either a brainwashed drone, or part of the plot. It’s easy to see why there's such an overlap with religion - both groups are too weak to understand the real world, so they opt for oversimplified, cosy explanations that bring them comfort.

Thats certainly true for Muslims, where conspiracy theories are rife, and almost part of the religion.  In fact they are part of the religion, and its starts from the verses telling you to never trust Jews.  You have been warned  hush

    well said!

Also if there was a super powerful agency controlling the world then it would be very very easy to know it and the people involved. Conspiracy theories are just too easy to believe and thrive on lack of evidence, kinda like religion  Smiley

I dont buy that at all, even powerful people are at the behest of the people  by & large.

Regarding capitalism, how do people like Bill Gates control me & you?  He has to do what we want to be successful, and is responsible to his shareholders - same applies to the other top richest 5 men in the world.  Thats why capitalism works better than other methods.

I mean how governments by definition, govern how we live and governments are more often than not controlled by big business. I don't mean that bill gates and the like directly control the masses.

Godot nailed it. I'll add that there's usually an element of victim complex, because "They" are controlling everything which of course explains why the believers are powerless.
