  • Youtube: Story of a Christian and how he lost his faith
     OP - June 02, 2010, 12:08 PM

This is something I stumbled across some time ago (that is, it was linked to on an Ex-Christian forum I frequent  whistling2).

This is a beautifully made youtube series about someone who grew up as a very religious Christian.
He goes on to explain in great detail how his beliefs and thoughts were completely changed,
and how he eventually had to conclude that there was no God.

Since I liked it, I suspect many of you will as well.  Smiley

There are many parts though, and they last close to two hours I think. Smiley

    Oh, and you are welcome!

Yes! I realised that after I was done with the first one. I'm at 2.3 now  dance

It is always touching to read/see stories of devout Chrisitans turn into atheists or agnostics. It reminds me of my own journey.

His videos are very logical and well presented. Not really loud and offensive in any way compared to some others. Cheers!  Afro

I think I might have ADD. He's too slow for me.

Very softly spoken, looks like he grew up spiritually, in a close, small community but the internet opened his eyes. Interesting video, thanks!

Make sure you watch the subsequent parts! That's where the good stuff is. Smiley
The first part is just to convince the audience that he really was a Christian.

The annotations at the end of the movie links to the next part.
Her is 2.0 (which follows the first one I posted):

Graceful degradation ... interesting ... never thought of it that way. I've been of the opinion if one key pillar can be busted the roof will eventually come down (i.e. understand evolution) but I guess the self-referential interconnected nodes do help with maintaining people's beliefs. Good video, thanks again!

i liked the background music in the first one! It is kinda slow, seems very documentary like. i'll give the second one a go in the hopes that something spectacular happens.

Are most of the ex-Muslims here, atheist, agnostic, or looked towards a more spiritual way of life or another religion?

If you ask me to define anything i will slap you with my pimp hand and make you cry like a biatch.

Mostly a mix of atheists, agnostics, deists, pantheists and a few heretical muslims - basically all people who would be killed for their beliefs if they met the wrong wahhabi or taliban extremist

i liked the background music in the first one!

    Yeah, me too! It's
Angelo Milli - La Mujer De Mi Hermano Theme
(Which is Spanish and literally means 'The woman of my brother').

Deism and Pantheism are two God concepts. You don't necessarily adhere to one of them.

It's not just one video though, but an approx. 2 hour long series.
I feel I did a poor job making that point. Smiley

    Edit
Ah, some kind soul has compiled the first parts of the series. 1 hour 42 minutes.

Things pick up when he actually believes he is the second coming of Jesus at one point.  grin12
