But they will say it's a lie! An infidel conspiracy to defame Islam!

lol, I know.. but some of them if even believe a tiny bit on the hadith books properly referenced in it, they would atleast discard hadith books completely.

Most Muslims will agree to this kind of stuff. They believe that the Makkans were on the "deen" before going astray and worshipping idols there.

They are so entrenched and invested in this idea of Abraham building the foundations of the Ka'aba with his bare hands on God's orders and the white/black stone falling from heaven that this almost overrides any suspicion they may have towards Islamic practices being derived from pagan.

I mean, even in the Yusuf Ali translation of the Qur'an it is pointed out that "Allah" existed as a god worshipped by the pagans prior to Islam, yet Muslims will not make their own connections because they are not told to.

Simple question to ask them is, why are all these practices not part of Christianity or Judaism? I tried it on my sister, and it worked pretty well.

Good point... I guess because Jews/Christians went astray? They changed their books beyond recognition? How I ever believed that I do not know. It's just another fault-line in the logic of Islam.

The thing is, many Muslims don't read the Bible so there is no way for them to make the contrast.

Also, as soon as you quote from wikiIslam on most (if not all) Muslim forums, you are probably one step away from a permanent ban, and all attempts at debate are quashed. I guess it is a great resource for us to learn from before arguing with Muslims - haven't been there in awhile.

True.. Yes, it won't work on people who never had Christian friends.. But it would work on them that do..

Definitely. Particularly those who didn't take the "Do not take the Jews and Christians as helpers" bit as literally as I did.  Smiley

I am a student though I worked for a bit during my gap year. To make matters worse for me, being a Muslim, my direct boss was a Hindu!

My first professional job was through a co-op in a small web development company run by two white guys at their home. They were so nice with me. I once lost my car in an accident and couldn't afford another for good few more months. My boss used to come and pick me up from home. And the quranic verses about not having Christians as friend used to hammer my mind all the time..
