What the hell is wrong with my browser?

my Mozilla Firefox has suddenly stopped working. when i try to surf the web wherever i go it just says something about it being unable to read the URL. so now i have to use IE. its working but the pages look all messed up with letters in the wrong places etc. i tried downloading Opera but that didnt work at all when trying to start it up. i know a lot of you guys are good at this stuff, what can i do to get Firefox to function again? or should i be using some other browser?

Try google chrome (a light, easy to use browser). Also, see if there is an update available for FF or any of your FF add-ons.

Hmm... well try restarting the computer. If that doesn't work, there may be deeper issues with your internet connection, OS or firewall....

have tried restarting it several times, same problem. weird thing is the only browser that seems to be functioning atm is IE

Check your firewall settings... do you have windows firewall, zonealarm or some other one?

thanks for the advice ppl. Flock didnt work either ! i give up. maybe i should just install the new Windows 7? ive heard its a lot better than Vista, which is my current OS.

did some internet research on this problem, i have no idea what a Proxy is but Mozilla seems to be working again after i turned it off
