  • A very beautiful (pre-islamic?) arabic poem

    TO LEILA.

    LEILA, with too successful art,
      Has spread for me Love's cruel snare;
    And now, when she has caught my heart,
      She laughs, and leaves it to despair.

    Thus the poor sparrow pants for breath,
      Held captive by a playful boy;
    And while it drinks the draught of death,
      The thoughtless child looks on with joy.

    Ah! were its fluttering pinions free,
      Soon would it bid its chains adieu;
    Or did the child its sufferings see,
      He'd pity and relieve them too.

    Haram brother. They were Jahiliya, ignorant pagan arabs.

    All they did was fight, and kill each other. Who was there to save them? No one!!

    They believed in multiple gods, surely this is a great sin.

    And they would bury their daughters, alive!! The inhumanity. Why would they do this? Out of shame of course.

    And they would walk around the Kaaba naked! NAKED. That's not right!! We can't have that in today's society. It makes more sense to be totally veiled, in the hot Arab desert. In black as well. It doesn't make sense to compromise, let's just go opposite.

    The more I hear about pre-Islamic Arabia, the better it sounds; booze, lots of fucking, everyone worshipping and doing their own thing - what the hell was wrong with that? why are Arabs ashamed of it? it sounds a damn sight more civilised than what is occurring today!

    Every society has its puritans. Some fail, some succeed.

    Pakistan Zindabad? ya Pakistan sey Zinda bhaag?

    Long Live Pakistan? Or run with your lives from Pakistan?

    Short but moving.

    `But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
     `Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
     `How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
     `You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

    May I take this opportunity to present a great 'Golden Age' Arabic thinker, rationalist and atheist.

    Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Al-Ma'arri

    http://www.centerforinquiry.net/isis/islamic_viewpoints/al_maarri/

    This is from ISIS (no not the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant ( finmad boo!), the Institution for the Secularization of Islamic Society (hooray  Afro).

    Now in the first sentence on this page, they claim him as a product of Islam, which is absurd since they go on to show how he was an opponent of religions in general including islam, but from then on it's all good info.

    I am better than your god......and so are you.

    Sweet thanks. Will look at it soon.

    Al-Ma'arri is an inspiration to all dissenters from islamic backgrounds with disabilities who struggle to make it in life.
