Jesus murdered a child in his youth:

"When the Lord Jesus was coming home in the evening with Joseph, he met a boy, who ran so hard against him, that he threw him down; To whom the Lord Jesus said, As thou hast thrown me down, so shalt thou fall, nor ever rise.
And that moment the boy fell down and died."

A bit disingenuous, that, Kenan. It's not in the Bible.

Moot point. The quote is from Apocrypha. Different churches/publishers/people have differing views on the biblical canon.

It was an act of teenage rebellion by emo Jesus.
    Happens to everyone.

Its a perfectly fair comparison, because this alleged death threat from Mohammed is not in the Qur'an.

Fair enough. I didn't actually read the first page of the thread, so I wasn't making a comparison with the Mohammed story.

And even if both instances of emo rebellion were in the Bible/Koran, it's not as if they are historical documents, is it?

No of course they aren't. I understand the Bible strictly metaphorically.

OT is basically God's "temper tantrum throwing brat" years and the Creation is simply God playing with finger paints.

If all the religious bimbos on earth suddenly applied the same critical eye to their own scriptures as they do other faiths, the world would instantly be a better place.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

It's not fair to compare apocrypha with hadith.
How many Muslims are quran-only, and how many Christians care about the apocrypha?
The biggest christian denominations (catholic and orthodox) reject apocrypha.

Just for the record : christianity sucks donkey balls, though.

Dupree.. you can put out any picture you like on that Jesus Christ, No one cares.  But at least   put those bible scriptures as it is..
    Quote
Bible verse from Rev. Winton Dupree  10:13-16

Let the Children Come on Me
13(A) And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples(B) rebuked them. 14But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, (C) "Let the children come on me;(D) do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15(E) Truly, I say to you, whoever does not(F) receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it." 16And(G) he took them in his arms and blessed them,(H) laying his hands on them in their swimsuit areas.

LET ME CORRECT your version of bible.,
    Quote
Mark 10:13-16 New International Version (NIV)

    The Little Children and Jesus:

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

That is right one Rev. Winton Dupree.,

    Now question comes.,
    Quote
why did disciples of JC rebuked the people who brought their little children to get blessing (or put his hand on them) from him?

That is the question you should ask QueenIsabel dear Dupree dumb and that is  a fair question. Now with that picture your extension of that blessings of children by JC acting like Mohel and performing  that ritual "Brit milah" needs proof.

Without that proof and without real proof of the existence of JC , if you go on painting his  picture like that and  writing rubbish on him,  no one cares Dupree dumb.,

So get the proof and talk to me.. lol..

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything

Most Christians don't care about the apocrypha. We don't use it as additional religious texts.

Most Muslims care about the Hadiths and accept them as authentic narratives of Muhammed's life.

Are you a Christian apologist yeezevee? If not? Why are you getting all apologistic when it comes to Christian belief and scriptures?

Hadith have no more or less authenticity than Suras anyway, or any other religious scripture. It's only really believers that suppose one body of religious folklore takes precedence over others. It's all apocrypha to me.

    It's all apocrypha to me.

    Yep.

Having started out a very, very sceptical agnostic, this place is tipping me ever closer to outright atheism.

It's only my respect for decent believers that's holding me back. That, and not being able to prove 100% that God doesn't exist.
  • Re: Muhammed Wished Death on a Little Girl
     Reply #46 - June 15, 2011, 07:15 PM

That, and not being able to prove 100% that God doesn't exist.

The fact that I can't prove that God doesn't exist doesn't bother me in the slightest. It is a wrong question to ask.

For me atheism is not about whether there is or there isn't an entity people would call 'God'.

For me atheism is about irrelevance of God - I simply do not need God. My behaviour/moral code would not change with regard to the answer to question of God's existence.

Jesus was a saint who loved children in the NT

"So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead.  Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds." Revelation 2:22-23

That is a very important question and needs a detailed answer dear Al-Ma`arri. There are three things here when we are trying to put a INTERRELIGIUS SHOW/DISCUSSION..

1). Prophets of those religions.(WHETHER THEY ARE REAL OR IMAGINARY)
    2). Scriptures from those religions
    3). Followers of those  religions..

Nothing is unquestionable..  as far as wher I read and compare with each others scriptures is concerned I  heavenly dependent on this web site http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm , except for Quran, Hadith and sunnah + Sharia laws from early Muslim intellectuals.

I am not an apologist for ANY RELIGION for that matter any unproven scientific concept. I am of the opinion, however good/Proven the concept (religious or scientific) may be, It can always be improved and there is always room for improvement of everything ..

Wonderful! In my case I would replace 'atheism' with my brand of humanism for which he existence/non-existence of GOD is immaterial.
