Hizb ut Tahrir running in to Dangerous waters .. says news..
    Quote
We learn now that the enemy may have infiltrated deep into the core of our institutions, weakening them from within - as termites do when they eat into the woodwork of strong structures. The arrest in May of Brigadier Ali Khan, whose links with the banned Hizb-ut-Tehrir (HT) are said to have been established, has been followed by a shocking confirmation by the Inter Services Public Relations that four unnamed serving majors have also been held for interrogation. The suspicion is that they are linked to the same organisation. The ISPR spokesman has been rather brave in admitting that loopholes may have played a role in the PNS Mehran incident and that other acts of terrorism need to be examined in greater detail. Corrections can only be made when faults are admitted. The failure to own up to shortcomings in the past has contributed to the problems we face now. We do not know how many personnel in uniform the HT may have recruited over the years. It may also have picked up individuals in other places - including bureaucrats, well-placed professionals, and others in positions of some importance. The luring over to its ranks of powerful members of society in various countries has long been the hallmark of the group.

From Pakistan’s perspective, reports that the country has been a key focus of HT activities since 1999 – given its acquisition at the time of nuclear arms – are especially alarming. The implications are appalling – all the more so if there exists support for the group within the army.

A report in this newspaper speaks of a possible HT-led coup attempt and suggests that the detained officers are being questioned along these lines. It seems we need to take a very hard look at how extremists operate. The allegations that Brigadier Ali Khan was held for criticising the military during a review of the Abbottabad raid do not sound convincing.

We need an in-depth inquiry into the dramatic chain of events that has unfolded, and also an examination of why the HT, banned in 2004, has been able to continue operations - using Pakistan, it would seem, as a key base from where to stage its struggle and spread its message.

I really really hate Hizb Ut Tahrir.

hating it is NO USE dear Al-Ma`arri., but educating people about it and cross questioning people with-in it is very useful.

Well taking about the members of Hizb Ut Tahrir, whose intelligence in political arena is at best is nothing more than Islamic left wing emotional attachment to  "Me Caliph Good" level., these fools can easily be deprogrammed with few questions.

Any way one of the past hardcore member of HT Mr. Maajid Nawaz | From the Newspaper writes

    Quote
THE arrest of Brig Ali Khan, among others, from the army HQ for suspicion of his affiliation to my old Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) are necessarily about far more than merely ‘fighting militancy’ in Pakistani society or within the army. ..

    Quote
Indeed, the particular problem of HT infiltration inside the Pakistan Army was exported to Pakistan from Britain. HT advocates violent overthrow of democratic states through illegal military coups in order to enforce a single interpretation of Islam. I call this ideology ‘Islamism’, and they have hijacked the term ‘caliphate’ for their utopia.

Groups such as HT do not seek to launch a mass movement; rather they specifically target the intellectual elite and the military apparatus of the countries in which they operate. For years, leading journalists and the intellectual elite of Pakistan have been targeted by highly educated English-speaking Islamists. They have been seeking to convert prominent opinion shapers to their supremacist ideology. Once this sector is taken, a military coup can be staged by key officers sympathetic to the cause, who would in turn face minimal resistance from society.

As one of HT’s texts from Britain reads, this would “normally be done by the Party seeking to access the military in order to take the authority … After this the military would be capable of establishing the authority of Islam. Hence a coup d’état would be the manifestation of a political change...

read it all at the link.. and Maajid Nawaz  is a very smart guy + was former member of Hizb ut-Tahrir,

    ISLAMABAD:
Brigadier Ali Khan is likely to be released soon after spending more than a month and a half in detention for suspected links with the banned extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir, his family and officials said.
The brigadier and four unnamed majors are in custody for questioning for their suspected ties with Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT), which calls for creating a pan-Islamic caliphate system by ousting, what it says, the pro-American government in the country.
Military officials grilling the brigadier have yet not found ‘enough evidence’ to formally charge him, said a military official familiar with the development.

“You need to have very solid evidence to charge-sheet anyone in the military. At the moment there is no such thing against the detained officers, including Brig Ali,” added the official, requesting not to be identified. “Brig Ali is likely to be released soon,” he added.
However, it is unclear whether he will be dismissed from service or allowed to go home with his perks and privileges intact. Brig Ali is due to retire on July 9.

Sources say though Brig Ali was allegedly in contact with HuT, the main reason behind his detention appears to be his highly critical stance on the army’s high command over its relationship with the US.
According to the BBC, Brig Ali started writing letters to army generals, some of whom were his former colleagues, with suggestions on how to become ‘self-reliant’ and “to purge the army of the American influence”.

He told senior officers such as Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani that Pakistan’s ‘unconditional’ support to the Americans was causing resentment in the lower ranks of the army.
But this act does not constitute a serious offence that warranted a serious punishment such as court-martial, sources point out.
Brig Ali’s family has also confirmed that they have been given indications that he would be reunited with them in a few days. Brig Ali also spoke to his family last week for the first time since he was taken into custody on May 6.

“I talked to him briefly on our son’s birthday,” Brig Ali’s wife told The Express Tribune. “He was in good health and quite confident that he would be declared innocent,” she added.
“You should not worry. I have done nothing wrong and Inshallah (God willing) I will be with you very soon,” his wife quoted him as saying.
The military spokesperson Major General Athar Abbas also confirmed that Brig Ali and four other detained majors have yet to be formally charge-sheeted.

“Investigations are underway and they will be charge-sheeted once the probe is complete,” said Major General Abbas. However, he would not provide details.

The fate of the detained officers will be decided on the recommendations of the authorities questioning them, said another unnamed official. But he added that the detained officials are unlikely to be court-martialed.

No.. Aphrodite ., that is not really true.,

1). It has not been banned in any country neither in US nor in UK.  where the rule of law from the govt  can be challenged in courts .   Bangladesh banned Hizb ut-Tahrir on 22 October 2009 but they have not gone courts to challenge it.

2). In 2004 It was banned in Pakistan for doing political opposition to Mr. Musharraf  but immediately they went Lahore court and the ban on it lifted  after a legal challenge against its proscription in the Lahore High Court.

They were supposed to be banned by the conservatives who explicitly mentioned them in their manifesto lol And I'm pretty sure they're banned in a number of countries, Russia, Central asian states and a few others.

I think the problem with the iraq war debate is that if we were to change parties around. say the United States was a Caliphate. This caliphate goes to war with saddaam because he may be stockpiling nuclear weapons and has killed a million muslims. The caliphate would end saddaam's career >AND< once the islamofascists are in iraq, it will inevitably become a new state of the Islamic Republic. We can look at the facts throughout history, when muslims invaded Spain and added it to their empire.

The difference between the West and the Islamists is that, when WE went into iraq (as stupid as it was) we let the IRAQI's lead their people. George dubya didn't go their and tell em to bow before the cross. I think over time when the situation gets better in iraq it'll be seen as  a necessary war to remove evil. As for the islamists they'll be hoping for things to fail so they can continue arguing a case for sharia. I'm not in favor of most of the US foreign policy but it's better than the foreign policy charter made by hizb ut tahrir talking about ceasing all connections with the western world, HA!

Another thing to note is that the problem with ignorance and stupidity in a democracy can actually lead to more harm then good. I'm speaking of the republican party in america, ofcourse. This is where we lose the argument against islamists BUT to address that problem, republican party is predominantly a christian party. So you can see why their policies are so awful because its their narrow limited worldview that has been poisoned by christianity that makes them the joke of america.

As for the islamists in britain, they are taking a strong aggressive campaign to educate the public on 'shariah' and the caliphate. I fear that their numbers are growing and its a matter of time before the islamofascists take over parts of the arab world.

As christopher hitchens says, 'Religion POISONS EVERYTHING'. Look around and witness the disease spreading.
