    Being a perfect wife isn't about being obedient it is about loving your family and raising your kids to the best of your abilities. There are various ways to go about this that does not need to be rooted in religious laws.  You can be obedient to your husband to kill your own child or do something that hurts your family that does not make you a good wife. It's a dangerous comparison that need to be separated. Yes a majority of American families are broken but come on there are many other non-Islamic cultures and countries where families are very close-knit and happy.
