Hi folks- I read this on BBC today and thought of CEMB:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24766314
"We come from nothing and we go to nothing," he insists. "Compared to the big zero that awaits, a cup of coffee can be transcendental, the touch of a lover's hand can be mystical. If you don't believe in God that just makes life even more precious."

I was thinking maybe ex muslims or muslims that are doubtful about the existence of God might be able to form congregations like this one day (maybe a Friday congregation) or is it just wishful thinking on my part or some sort of naïve, unrealistic utopian dream in my head. I know for a fact that many don't take Islam or god very seriously deep down. It's just a part of who they are and they go with the flow  and they like to congregate with like minded individuals and be part of a crew. Online Intellectual apostasy is all well and good but real apostasy don't cut it or sell in the real world very well unless it offers offline belonging social gathering and ritual . I know ex muslims do have secret meetups but I think this sort of ritualistic  thing would be a great way to increase the numbers OR maybe at the moment it's only appropriate for Christians as Islam and muslim communities simply aren't mature enough to be able to deal with this sort of thing without mayhem.
    Just my thoughts.

    This. But maybe someday.

I can tell you I am in a state of worship with coffee. I would probably cease to exist without it. Coffee meetups would be a religious experience for me.

Anyone come across the atheist church service a while back? A church service without the god bit.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

It actually proved to be a hit.

Cheesy Yeah I knew someone would start listing other sexual options. The question was rhetorical.

You know, apart from being see through and not a giant she looked rather like an houri.

Lol- morning coffee for me is ritualistic, enjoyable and gives me a kick at at a time of day when I need it but too much of this pleasure at other times of the day just gives me headaches so I'd probably opt for something else at other times.

I too am horribly dependant on morning coffee, but don't touch it the rest of the day.

Yes, but is drinking coffee a religious experience for you?

Yeah I get that. I was just thinking along these lines earlier today, I'm not really sure how to put it into words though. But wouldn't it be cool if you could just have some large open room public building/area where you could just wander in, light a candle, do some yoga streches, meditate or just chill, nothing to loud or vigorous(sorry to disappoint you exhibitionists) without all the religious dogma.
I'm kind of envious of the faithheads p.o.w but deep down I know my idea's way too hippieish and besides any open air public building near me would undoubtedly be filled by people with drug habbits and other down and out types.
