You guys should stop being so funny. It makes choosing the JOTM a real dilemma.

There once was a Nabi from the Quraysh
Who was kind of like David Koresh
    He gathered some fools
    Said follow these rules
Or Allah will burn off your flesh

The foundation of superstition is ignorance, the
superstructure is faith and the dome is a vain hope. Superstition
is the child of ignorance and the mother of misery.

There once was a god with no double,
Who created Adam out of rubble.
    He created us all
    With infinite flaw
And then burns us in hell for our trouble.

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

We can all interpret as we  will, but my interpretation of Abrahamic religion is different from that of many others.

I have listened to the Krauss Tortoise debate.

Krauss says that he has made two sentences from the quran in 11 seconds just by randomly messing about with Arabic words in a computer program.

Does anyone have an update on this?

Isn't deciding upon whether or not a chapter is prose or poetry "overall" subjective in itself? Can someone who knows Arabic describe this?

I'd be interested in hearing if he says anything new.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

more or less yes. there were and are distinct literary styles but it's not like you can't blend them.

It's interesting that most Muslims are subconsciously ashamed of some aspects of the Quran. Mr. Hamza here would never use the wife-beating verse or the talking-ants verse to show how miraculous the Quran is.

i told him: "The quran can only be 'outside the productive capacity of the Arabic language', if it is not one of the many possible combinations and permutations of Arabic words. This is rather obviously not the case."

He is ignoring it so far

The biggest proof that the quran is poetry is that the Arabs who heard it called it poetry. In the quran itself it says they called Mo a "mad poet."

Since Hamza is (has recently become) such a fan of deductive arguments, I have one for him

    1. The 'productive capacity' of a language is every possible combination and permutation of it's letters and other characters.
    2. The quran is one of the possible combinations and permutations of Arabic letters and other characters
    3. Therefore the quran is within the productive capacity of the Arabic language.

The entire argument falls apart even in the first step - defining the word 'miracle'. So there isn't really any need to continue that thread.
But i intend to anyway. I'm also making a video on the topic
