Not sure, but i think not much really. It's just that our muslim society has no problem preaching Islam towards non-muslim, and new converts are always welcomed.

The problem is deconverting from Islam is illegal, and even proselytism by other religions to towards muslims is also illegal. There have been many cases where apostates are sent to jail or rehab centers until they 'repent', and christians and church organizations were taken action against by the government simply because they proselytized to muslims.

which country is it illegal except in Sand land and stone land truth_seeker?? together there are less than 10% Muslims in those two countries..

If it is really true that Islam is the fastest growing religion, I doubt it has something to do with it's truthness or whatever.

Do you feel that there are many doubters that would convert out of Islam if it wasn't so impossible or is it just the odd individual? I've always found it really hard to gauge, but I tend to feel that most people from all walks of life are truly devoted to their faith.

If I remember correctly the Malaysian government has made it forbidden for ethnic Malays to leave Islam.

Ethnic Malaysian can only be Muslim, that is the law in Malaysia. No person of Malaysian origin is allowed to be a non-Muslim or atheist.

Also, once one becomes a Muslim. he or she is not allowed to leave Islam, it is the law.

For example, if a Christian converts to Islam, he or she cannot revert to Christianity. Not only that, the children of the convert to Islam are automatically declared Muslims. If a Husband converts to Islam and the wife does not, the children automatically become Muslims. It is the same if wife converts and the husband does not.

So much for the freedom of religion in "moderate and democratic" Muslim country of Malaysia.

I'd just like to know if there are many muslims in Malaysia that ever have any doubts. I've always found this fairly difficult to gauge either because people are hiding it very well knowing there are no options or most people are genuinely in love with their faith which is what I tend to think.

Also why does a christian woman have to convert to marry a Malay man when Islam is very clear on this. Doesn't this ever get questioned?

This is not just with Malaysian Muslims. It is also with other Muslim ethnic groups too.

No, i don't think they'd be many who would deconvert even if it was legal, just like every other Muslim soceity in the world. In fact, Islam is so rooted into the lives and customs of Ethnic Malays that it is completely inseparable.

In Singapore, Malaysia's neighbour, religious freedom is practiced well. But because of ethnicity. All Malays are also automatically labelled as Muslims. SAD FO ME~~~

Non-Muslims who marry Muslims must convert to Islam - that is the law, if they divorce they cannot revert back to their original religion.

I know this only too well to my detriment
I wonder how they tackle this topic in Quran school - A muslim man can have a christian wife, but not here in Malaysia, it's illegal.
