    Quote
Six Italian scientists and an ex-government official have been sentenced to six years in prison over the 2009 deadly earthquake in L'Aquila.

    Quote
The seven - all members of the National Commission for the Forecast and Prevention of Major Risks - were judged to have provided "inexact, incomplete and contradictory" information about the danger of the tremors felt ahead of 6 April 2009 quake, Italian media report.

Absolutely bonkers. Anyone have any clue how to overthrow this ridiculous ruling. The dark ages sometimes it seems have returned to Europe.

Bloody hell, its not like predicting earthquakes is a precise science. What a strange judgment.

I don't know anything about the level of incompetance they showed but surely it would be ok if it was very severe. Doctors face manslaughter sentences for incomptence quite often.

Maybe Michael Fish should be in prison for failing to predict the big wind that engulfed Britain back in the 1980s.

An amusing tweet about this declares:

“Next up: Italian physicists will be found guilty of genocide for not building a time machine & killing Hitler.”
