Hey everyone,
Taking the suggestion of a valued fellow member, I would like to share my plans with you about a documentary film I'm directing and producing.
This feature-length documentary will be about apostates of Islam.
The film's main focus will be the stories of these exmuslims: their struggles with faith that led to their apostasy, their means of concealing their lack of belief for fear of backlash from their families, and in more extreme cases, to avoid the death penalty associated with apostasy.
The stories will also be used as a platform to discuss the state of Islam today, and the effects it has on people's lives.
I am posting here because I could really use your help.
I have assembled this humble Indiegogo campaign to help raise funds for the film:
http://www.indiegogo.com/guiltismygod?a=1633024In there you will find a fairly detailed outline of what the film will attempt to cover, and what it will avoid. Namely, it will be anything but a 2-hour anti-Islamic rant. The spotlight will belong to the apostates themselves, and will remain so for the greater majority of the film.
I have mentioned the following on /r/exmuslim, and I will mention it here:
Spreading the word aggressively about the campaign via Twitter, Facebook and every possible venue by my fellow exmuslims will be far more valuable than a donation. Reaching my funding goals is no where near as important as raising awareness about an issue that must be addressed and dealt with for the sake of our forthcoming generations.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for any measure of help or advice you can spare.
