I don't think so. I mean, I
barely hear anything about Israel in Aussie media apart from when they kill a few hundred Palestinians/Lebs/etc in response to a rocket, but recently, there was "Prisoner X" (the Aussie that died in an Israeli prison - wanted to leak documents, kinda like Bradley Manning), and the media dug into that story.
I think Israel evidently puts itself in the spotlight, especially since it wants to be seen a up there with the US.
