I think this is the most appropriate section for my question about Um Salamah rather than R A G. I'd like to know the case of Um Salamah and her marriage to the prophet.

In Nine Parts of Desire, Um Salamah was asked by the trio Abu Bakr, Umar and Muhammad, each of them in turn to marry them because she had wealth and was good looking. But many on-line essays about her seem to paint a different picture, that she was crying all the time (after her husband was killed in battle) and the companions felt her plight and proposed out of pity and duty (to protect her).
I can't post links(with my newbie forum status) but only a simple search should give you similar links/details on what I've just said.

Whats the real story behind this?

Whats the real story behind this?

well bilal., her husband apparently died fighting  infidels in support of Prophet PBUH., So that 29 year old lady  who also happened to be the cousin of Prophet needed family support for her and her children.  So prophet  being magnanimous might have supported her and her desires..

well sex could also play a role..   read her story

Any way let us read some hadith from her..

    Quote
    Hadith no: 603Narrated: Umm Salamah:

“I said, O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman with tight braids. Should I undo them when I take a bath to cleanse myself from the state of sexual impurity?”

He said: “Rather it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over them, then pour water over yourself, and you will be purified,” or he said: “In that case you would have become purified.” (Sahih)"

Hadith no: 623  Narrated: Umm Salamah

said: “A woman asked the Prophet (saw): ‘I bleed continuously and do not become pure. Should I give up the prayer?’

He said: ‘No, but leave off praying for the number of days and nights that you used to menstruate.’” (One of the narrators) Abu Bakr (Ibn Abu Shaibah) said in his Hadith: “Estimate the number of days in the month, then take a bath and cover your private part with a cloth and perform prayer.” (Da’if)

    Quote
Hadith no: 637 Narrated: Umm Salamah:

“I was with the Messenger of Allah (saw) under his blanket, then I felt that I was menstruating as women do, so I slipped out from under the cover.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: ‘Are you menstruating?’
I said: ‘I feel that I am menstruating as women do.
He said: ‘That is what Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam.’
So I slipped out and sorted myself out, then I came back,
and the Messenger of Allah (saw) said to me: ‘Come under the cover with me,’
so I went in with him.’”

    yeeeha.. sexy..........sexysexy..

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim
