Anatomy of a Stoning in Iran

We look at the brutal practice of stoning in Iran. This method of execution is still practiced in certain countries, where it is used to punish adulterers and other criminals. The graphic below looks at how a stoning occurs in accordance with the exact language of the Iranian Penal Code (graph).

First comment: MichaelZWilliamson - But who are we to criticize their older civilization, which is at least as good as our own? What about all the evil things America has done?

Second comment: John Davies - women adulterers deserve to be stoned!!!!!!!! they shud show their husbands some respect

Article 103 states that adulterers who were convicted on the basis of a confession can go free if they manage to wriggle out of their pit during the execution.

In a report Amnesty International notes drily that women are at a disadvantage here.

To anyone who has not seen it, I recommend the movie "The Stoning of Soraya M." It is a great movie that gives an insight to how and why stoning occurs in iran.
