Assalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh dear brothers and sisters Wink

Bosnia and Herzegovina is probably the most liberal Muslim country in the world. I shit you not I saw some Bosnian dude saying he is Muslim but works in a Beer factory to support his family! Alcohol, women and men mixing and music everywhere is the norm now. Unfortunately, there is a growing Salafi movement in there and if they get enough influence Bosnia could take a turn for the worse. I hope it doesn't, because Bosnia, especially the Herzegovina reigion have beautiful culture and vibrant people, but I am worried that the Salafi's will take it all away.

Is it just me, or the word "meme" being used a lot for the past few weeks.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is probably the most liberal Muslim country in the world.

Bosnia is not a Muslim country. It's a multiethnic secular democracy - less than half of the population there is "Muslim" in any sense of the word. Being a "Muslim" in Bosnia mostly denotes an ethnic/cultural identity rather than a religious one.
Afaik you are right; things have deteriorated steadily as a result of influx of Saudi money, which was in itself a result of war in Bosnia and consequent radicalisation. Apparently seeing a hijab in the street in Bosnia before the war was nearly impossible.

I personally know a "Muslim" girl from Bosnia that hasn't got any issues with miniskirts, alcohol or free sex.

... especially the Herzegovina reigion have beautiful culture and vibrant people ...

Herzegovina is synonymous with Croatian nationalism - its population is predominantly ethnically Croat and there was an attempt to separate this bit from the rest of Bosnia to create Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia as a separate "political, cultural, economic and territorial whole," on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina accompanied with "relocation" of other ethnic groups. Remember what happened in Mostar?

Saudi Salafi money is like the rats that carried the plague in the middle-ages. Everywhere those infected dollars go, they carry with them the disease of hatred, literalist supremacism, separatism, misogyny, and brutal bigotry and hateful violence follows in its wake.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/yasmin-alibhai-brown/yasmin-alibhaibrown-british-muslims-are-running-out-of-friends-1917816.html

"As I prayed before starting this column I felt tears stinging my eyes and my face was burning as if I had been slapped many times over."

"Once again at weddings and birthday parties, in quiet, tranquil mosques, at dinner tables across the land, including those of millionaire Muslims, I am hearing murmurs of trepidation and disquiet – voices kept low, sometimes vanishing into whispers, just in case; you never know if they will break down the door."

"At one gathering a frightfully posh, Muslim public school boy (aged 14), an excellent cricketer, said in his jagged, breaking voice: "I will never live in this country after finishing my education. They hate us. They'll put us all in prison. Nothing we do is OK. Do you think I am wrong Mrs Yasmin?"

"Meanwhile at Isleworth Crown Court, Judge John Denniss is industriously sentencing demonstrators who gathered near the Israeli embassy to rail against that state's attack on Gaza, one of the worst acts of state terrorism in recent history. Our government said nothing then, and were therefore complicit."

Therefore I too am complicit in Israeli attack on Gaza!

New Documentary: Bosnia and Herzegovina in Spring
This short documentary tells the story of the uprising in Bosnia and Herzegovina that started in early February 2014. Since February 5 2014, protests have swept across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The protests were started by workers from five factories in northern city of Tuzla: Dita, Polihem, Poliolhem, GUMARA and Konjuh. The factories had been privatized, bankrupted and stripped of assets, leaving the workers with large debts, no salaries, no health care and no benefits. The protests culminated on February 7, 2014 when several governmental buildings were set on fire in cities across the country, including the presidential building in Sarajevo. Under pressure of protests, four regional governments resigned. The protests were followed with mass popular assemblies, referred to as plenums, that quickly spread across the country.

Edit: Actually I'm not sure this is on topic as Islam doesn't get a mention - it's more interesting for it's absence. In some places the buildings of the various religious/ethnic parties were burnt down, not for sectarian reasons but as part of a general anti-nationalist protest. The video does work by the way - just click on the question mark.

The war in the '90's caused an uprising for the "Muslim" and "Islamic" identity in Bosnia. After that, salafism became popular among those who wanted to strengthen that "Muslim" identity further. Luckily, most Bosnian Muslims (and Muslims in general in the Balkans) look at salafis as if they were weirdos. They like their "Bosnian Islam", and are not the slightest interested in adopting "arab culture" as they call it. In fact, in most places in Bosnia, salafis have a much harder time "fitting in" than in for example London. I knew a Bosnian lady who actually would rather stay in "kafir Sweden" with their "disgusting society" rather than move to Bosnia Smiley

I'm part Bosnian, I sometimes attend a Bosnian mosque. Some of the women there don't cover themselves and no one goes ballistics for seeing uncovered women. It would suck if Bosnia became more like Saudi Arabia. I hope that will never happen.

    How is Sweden disgusting? Huh?

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

What is wrong with Sweden? uhm, for starters they are KUFFAR. That's enough. But it doesn't stop there. Swedes are very liberal when it comes to sex and the naked body and they absolutely love alcohol. When the poor Muslim lads go outside, especially during summer, they see naked bodies everywhere. Short short, transparent tops and blouses. People sun bathe in bikinis outside, even if it isn't a beach Smiley It''s absolutely horrible for the men who want all women to dress in a burka. And the women, gosh, they are constantly stared at and sometimes questioned why they cover up every inch of their bodies sometimes including hands and even eyes! How dare they react to our sisters' 7th century Arab clothes!
