  • Anyone know where I can read these books?
     OP - April 06, 2014, 08:03 PM

I want to read some Jurisprudence.  I don't want to read western books explaining what other books said, I want English translations for the books on jurisprudence by the four jurists.

    Imam Abu Hanifa
       Al Fiqh Al Akbar?
       Radd al-Muhtur of Ibn 'Abidin?
Also via students Abu Yusuf, Muhammad Shaybani

    Imam Malik bin Anas
       Mukhtasar Khalil or poss Mudawana?

    Imam Shafi'i
       Kitab al umm?

    Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal
       Musnad of Ibn Hanbal?
+ anything written by Ibn Taymiyyah / Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

Have you had any luck on Amazon ?

I tried looking for Islamic jurisprudence books online and there wasn't much.

If the books you are looking for are not online the only other place you are likely to find them are universities.

Obviously if you are not a staff/student you can't borrow them from the library but I'm pretty sure you can walk into the university bookstore and purchase them.

However as a student, I have to warn you the prices at a uni book-store will make you run for the hills.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

You can find things like these in the bigger Islamic bookstores。I don’t know if you have any near you、but I’ve encountered a couple in Bradford。

whole Islam is a collection ..collection of junk ,    it is all    "he said, I said  who said" business..

    Quote
Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Hanbal Abu `Abd Allah al-Shaybani (780–855 CE / 164–241 AH) (Arabic: احمد بن محمد بن حنبل ابو عبد الله الشيباني‎) was an important Muslim scholar and theologian. He is considered the founder of the Hanbali school of Islamic jurisprudence. Ibn Hanbal is one of the most celebrated Sunni theologians, often referred to as "Sheikh ul-Islam,"[7] honorifics given to the most esteemed doctrinal authorities in the Sunni tradition. Ibn Hanbal personified the theological views of the early orthodox scholars, including the founders of the other extant schools of Sunni fiqh. Hanbal was a strong spokesman for the usage of hadiths

(780–855 CE / 164–241 AH)  That is  way after alleged prophet's death..

I think that  Principles of Islamic  Jurisprudence by  Muhammad Kamali is  a good one., Off course that guy  writes from west...,  Canada??
