This is from a couple of years ago, but is interesting because I think it reflects the trend to shift away from the traditional view of apostasy (this conference was held in an Arab country - Oman).
From what I see and hear many important and respected modern Muslim scholars now argue against the death sentence for apostasy.
I think we (CEMB) can take some credit for this - especially Maryam Namazie - for forcing the issue into the open and breaking the taboos.
