Ismaili Muslims

So, I had an interesting thought today.
Growing up, we were always taught that Ismaili Muslims are not 'real' Muslims. I'm not sure I ever really cared, but that was definitely the dominant atmosphere.
They weren't real Muslims because they have the Aga Khan to 'override' the Koran/Hadith.
Now, that I reflect on it, it's actually the only branch of Islam that I see some sense in. They're willing to say the rules are dynamic and need to be updated with time.
Now don't me wrong, I know the big problems with it (that it is still Islam, aga khan following, wealth...). I'm just pointing out the irony in how I see things as it relates to the practice of religion for the average person.
