Thanks for making and posting that podcast. Most of the issues discussed were the same that I have questioned and wondered about myself. All the issues about a deity that has strangely human qualities ad requires lesser beings to worship it and follow rules that are not necessary to its existence. The power base of the rules. I have thought about these issues. It is a very long podcast so I would have to find some time to listen again while jotting down some notes.
The solutions to problems are somewhat difficult when people reluctant to change or even question themselves. How often can we say to young adults or teenagers who are seeking to leave islam or who are secret atheists that they should not or cannot say anything until they can leave because or sure their family will not change or compromise? The intolerance seems to be built into islam. I always think that islam is the only religion with built-in genocide. One if the podcast panel was perhaps looking for a term to describe "us vs them". It could be the stage of genocide called polarization. The beard length and hijab can be a self imposed stage of genocide called symbolization. Not to say I believe genocide is the answer to any of the world's problems. The current trend of terrorism is about some people wanting to bring out some type of final judgement fantasy/genocide.
