Hi all you Egyptians, and there seem to be not a few on here:
I''ve been trying to trace my Greek ancestry in Egypt. I've only just started and I'm unable to find anyone of the name Consoumides (variants- Konsumides, kontzoumides, ending may be '-edes') in either the Alexandria or the Cairo phone directories, as a first step.
Have any of you ever heard of the name at all or anything similar ?

Could it be Khouzam?

I've been told by Cefalonians that the -ides or -edes ending probably means son of, like the Nordic Harrison, Henserson, etc or the Celtic Mc and Mac prefixes.
It could be that they had to leave in a hurry in 1956.
