  • Diary of a Pakistani Schoolgirl
     OP - January 19, 2009, 12:58 PM

Private schools in Pakistan's troubled north-western Swat district have been ordered to close in a Taleban edict banning girls' education. Militants seeking to impose their austere interpretation of Sharia law have destroyed about 150 schools in the past year. Five more were blown up despite a government pledge to safeguard education, it was reported on Monday. Here a seventh grade schoolgirl from Swat chronicles how the ban has affected her and her classmates. The diary first appeared on BBC Urdu online.

Imagine living in a world where it takes courage to dare go to school. It seems her father is supportive of her decision to continue her education.

I dread to think what the daughters of the Taliban are going through.

Being the daughter of a talib would be a nightmare of a life.

Yes, very disgusting.  And considering that Islam considers a girl a grown woman as soon as she starts her menses that means that girls as young as 9 will be dragged away from their homes and given over to these dirty pigs called the Taliban!  piggy

Times like this, I'm glad Bangladesh isn't part of Pakistan anymore. Though my native country has it's own problems, I hate to  imagine it being under the Sharia.  Cheesy
