Not only apostates, but even bloggers writing "offensive" or blasphemous to Islam" stuff may soon be executed in this Islamic Theocracy.

Well, the Quran does suggest death for "mischief makers" in Sura5:32 & the mischief is anything which Islam deems mischievous or blasphemous!  Tongue

I expected it too.  I've been saying ever since the UN Resolution against insulting religion was passed that its really an attempt to give the green light to oppressive regimes to silence dissenters among their own people.  That's why China and Cuba supported it - they don't give a stuff about religion, they just want a handy catch-all law to lock people up for speaking their minds.

Even in Iran, where the authorities probly do care about religion, this law will be used to punish anybody who criticises the government under the excuse that they are criticising Islam.

Expect to see more of the same in other countries in the near future.

I hope the UN realises what a grave mistake they made. This is going to have a lot of repercussions. Can the UN repeal the resolution?

Will this not hinder any forms of an Islamic reform?

It definitely will hinder reform.  The onus was always on muslims outside muslim majority countries to take the lead,  because they had most freedom of speech.  But now, thanks to the UN, even muslim minorities in China and other places will be skating on thin ice if they say anything about religion.

At this rate, the mullahs will soon be building concentration camps.

Here's an interesting Huffingtonpost article on the same issue, with loads of links:
