    Whether one believes in God is not a scientific issue; it is more emotional. The Bible states "without faith it is impossible to please God".  So scientific discussions are fun intellectually, but not a way to prove/disprove God.  Discussion of God needs to be more relational - meeting human needs. I believe the Bible to be accurate scientifically, but it is not intended to be a scientific text. Many things scientific in the Bible have taken many years for science to explain. One I like is about the star Arcturus. It has a path that does not fit the normal path of other stars in the sky. It took a lot of years for astronomers to understand this.

    Thanks again,

     Hi XXXX,

    I don't have any problem with religion either, as long as people peacefully practice them without waging wars on other human beings, or judge other people based on gender, race, sexual orientation etc, just because they think their religion gave them the right to do so. Also, we need more education of science in schools along with all different religions.

    ========
    Muddy,

    I thought you might find some of these statistics on the Bible interesting. Scroll down to "Bible History Highlights"; It provides some historical data.

    XXXX
    (A forwarded message attached.. I don't want to bore you with that now)
    ========
    I am sorry to say, but all the religions in the world have lots of historical facts. It doesn't make one religion better then others. I have been muslim my whole life, and you would also be surprised by lot of historical facts related to islam.

    All religions also comes up with flaws, islam covered many flaws of christianity, but Islam also have plenty of flaws, thats why I left it.

    XXXX,

    We do have hundreds of millions of years of archeological evidences on this earth. And we have proofs not only through radio-carbon dating, but various other methods too. As per your claim, we can simply not fit all the millions of years of archelogical evidences.

    Dinosaurs for example lived on this earth for about 100 million years. They got extinct 65 million years ago. Humans have been living on earth for only 200,000 years. We can simply not fit dinosaurs and humans at the same time frame of 6000 years, because they never lived on this earth during same time frame.
    They have found both human and donosour remains in the same time period.

    If you want to understand actual religious history constructed from archeologic evidences, I would recomend you watch Bible Unearthed. The full documentary is available on youtube now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=959OCN1Q8b4

    The word interfaith looks like they are talking about comparing different religions. But it doesn't look like it includes non-religious.
    ======
    I am sorry to be very blunt. I hope you don't count it as blasphemy, but virgin birth concept simply doesn't make sense. It is a fabricated story probably to hide adultary.

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:MnMvuGyYX_4J:www.exposingchristianity.com/Jesus_Christ.htm
    Islam used stories from Christianity, Judaism, Arab pagans, Zorostainianism, ancient greek science etc. Infact all the religions incorporated concepts from local religions, and added their own salt and pepper to them.
    ======
    That's what one should think; except if Jesus is the son of God it would be possible.  If one does not believe there is a God then of coures it would not be possible.
    ======
    God is a concept created by humans.
    ======
    Or humans are a concept created by God.  Smiley
    ======
    Bible Unearthed actually show the history with archeological evidences how the monotheistic God concept evolved from. King Hezakaya wanted to control political power in the country of Israel. Before that, everyone used to have personalized objects of worship. He came up with the concept of single God of Israel YHWH. But YHWH had three wives, as symbol of maternity and fertility.

    Bible was written in different era's. The difference between the age of oldest part of the Bible to the youngest part of the Bible is about 1000 years. All these findings are thanks to archeological evidences.
    ======
    Moses wrote the first 5 books long before Hezekiah. Maybe 2000 or 3000 BC. There are 40 authors with a span much more than 1000 years.
    Moses stated emphatically "One God".  The history of the Isrealites shows that they wound up being conquored when they turned to other (or additional) gods. When they turned back to God a leader would help them become free again as in the story of Moses leading them out of Egypt.

    I'll just throw in my words of kind advice muddy.  Be careful discussing religion,politics, and sex at work.

    So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

    Well, you should have seen the South African God Sqaud in my University.

    I dont want to sound racist in anyway, but I have noticed, that African Christians seem to be very dedicated to Spreading Christianity, could it be the cenuties of Christian Impierlaism which led to be like this?
