  • Hello from america!
     OP - November 20, 2009, 10:32 PM

I am not a muslim, nor was I, but i have taken an interest in this because my friend is an exmuslim, and I know some online who left their countries fleeing because of freedom of religion, and the right not to have one.

I hope to engage in discussions and help get the message out, that there are those who do not wish to be muslims, and that if they so wish, they should be able to seek asylum abroad if need be.

It is not the way you live your life that is important, it is how well you enjoy it that matters.

Hiya. Welcome to the forum.  Afro

That sounds sensible to me. Basically most people here think like that. We aren't into bashing people over the head for making their own choices. We just think they should be able to.

Welcome Ninurta. Glad you found us, there are people from all kinds of backgrounds here, what most of us have in common is that we don't take beliefs for granted without thinking about them, looking for evidence, weighing ideas and beliefs against logic and proven knowledge. Most of us like to investigate and analyze things for ourselves and we might not agree on everything, but we try and learn from each other. Looking forward to seeing you around the place Smiley

True. The reason its so important to me is not just my experience with friends, but also because my mom is fundie and living with her and being a practicing pagan, two things that do not go well. I am glad to be an american, but on the same note, it has made me concerned for others who do not have the priveledge. Not even when like me, they reached adulthood, to make a decision on what they can and cant believe.

I thought my name was going to be unique on here. It seems alot of people have middle eastern pagan names of all sorts.

I'm also proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died to give that right to me.

And I'd gladly stand up, next to you, and pretend that I'm not gay...erm...I mean, defend her still today

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

    Greetings and salutations!

I, too am American but have been living in the UK for the past several years.

Has your friend told her family about her apostasy yet or is that a no-go area?

Take care and look forward to future posts from you!

    Thanks HighOctane and Nour!

My friend told her parents, they didn't like nor agree with her decision but were one of those who were supportive. I don't know all the details though unfortunately.
