    I'm not sure really, I guess I grew up more focused on the Quran and the Prophet. Ashura was however a big deal but otherwise not really.

    What's interesting to me at right now is the compilation of the Quran. It's still unclear, in both hadith collections of Shia and Sunna there is an issue of corruption, of tahreef but scholars on both sides deem these hadiths as weak. However, the Uthman Codex does exist, does it not? And he did burn all copies deemed incorrect. I read that Ali refused to come out of his house until the real Quran was "released" or something like that and then somehow he got with the program. The whole thing is so unclear and frustrating. You'll find hadiths saying the real Quran will be revealed when the Mehdi arrives, its unclear whether this means there are missing verses or if its just the ordering of the suras. I mean why is that? Why would God not reveal the real Quran now? As according to the heavenly tablet, did he not say he would protect it?

    By the by, I just read the wiki article on The Battle of the Camel. And I have to say so many muslims dead, so many days passed, and why would this happen? And it happens to this day? Why would god let the "best of mankind" kill each other in this manner? All I can see is regular humans, their actions, and the consequences of their actions. Nothing divine about it. And still within that article, you read about the horrible and archaic ideas of booty and slaves.

    Of course shiism is nonsense. It's a simple equation really..

    Islam = nonsense

    Islam + more bullshit = Shiism

    Shiism = Nonense + more bullshit = stil nonsense

    There fore
    Shiism = Nonsense.

    One saving grace of Shi'ism is that it hasn't closed the doors in itijihad like what happened with Sunni in the 10th century.

    Interesting. I noticed they referred to hadiths about the battle. I thought the hadiths were only directly about the life of Mohammed.

    No, hadiths are usually used to refer sayings and deeds of Mo, but can refer to anything said of the sahabas too.

    I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

    I thought Shi'as grow up told stories of Saqifah, how Abu Bakr and Omar stole the Caliphate from Ali, and didn't attend the Prophets funeral, battle of camel, battle of Siffin, Yazid and Mauwiyah, killing of Hussein, 'pen and paper' issue, fitna of Aisha, Hafsa, and the Sahabah etc etc Which naturally leads them to grow up having a deep hatred of Sunni's.

    I'm not an Ex-Shi'a. But during my early years of Islamic studies, which included various sects of Islam, I did have a problem with the Imamate topic. If it was so important, and a major part of the Shi'a faith, why isn't it clearly mentioned in the Qu'ran to follow the 12 Imams?

    I never understand why they say the Prophet's wives, Aisha and Hafsa, are not part of Ahlul Bayt? When the Qu'ran clearly says they are? Their argument of tahreef occured, which I find rather absurd. Overall, I found the whole sect of Shia'sm nonsense.

    That was part of the websites I use to look at, along with answering-ansar and others. I found the explanation to many things rather absurd, exaggerated, and taken out of context.

    For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who refuse to understand, no explanation is possible.
