    As an American ex-pat, you realize, of course, that if this had happened in the states, they wouldn't have been convicted of anything due to that pesky First Amendment?

    That's part of the problem the UK has-- its citizens have gotten too used to relying on the government to fix things that organized communities should fix. Same problem in the US, just not as advanced as there.

    Q-Man, if Muslims tried to do in America what they did here, disrupting homecoming parades and screaming at veterans who have buried their comrades, they'd be beaten up or shot, right? The whole EDL thing of organised protest against Islamists happened directly because of this incident. They are going to be followed and confronted forever from now on.

    More interestingly, some British Muslims have begun to come out in numbers to physically face off against them like BMSD. I see that increasing in the future. They've shot their load now.

    Possibly, but nobody from the Westboro Church has been sent to the hospital yet for doing that to my knowledge, and they've been doing it for a while. Of course a funeral is a more controlled environment. Homecoming parade-- yeah, good chance they (or especially Muslims) would get the shit kicked out of them. But maybe not. Depends on who's at the parade and how much self-restraint they choose to exercise. But, no, I don't generally think it would be a safe situation for the protesters.

    Yeah, but they did used to and they were "put up with" by the mourners for the most part. And they said some pretty vile and insensitive things.

     Contempt of court.They refused to stand up when the judge entered the court.The orginal charge dosen't carry either a prison sentence or CSO.The maximum penalty is a ?1000 fine.

    Just asking mate. You were talking about different contexts and how these things are dealt with differently in USA and UK.

    These guys will be faced with direct action and protest from citizens from now - something they have not faced before.
