  • Is there a physical description of Aisha?
     OP - May 18, 2010, 12:21 PM

I remember reading in a novel (not the most accurate source, I know) called Far from Medina, by Algerian author Assia Djebar, that Aisha had fair skin, green eyes and red hair.

That does not sound like the depiction of your regular Saudi woman, and if it's true, it might explain Mo's attraction to her and why he wanted to secure her from a young age. Not that it is a very important detail in the history of Islam, but I'm curious about it.

So are there ahadith or parts of the Sira where Aisha is given those physical attributes?

He's no friend to the friendless
And he's the mother of grief
    There's only sorrow for tomorrow
    Surely life is too brief
