um, i'm 18, live in london, family are muslims (a couple of em extremist) etc.
started having serious doubts when i was around 14, but thanks to the 'don't think about/ ask questions about certain things in case you become an apostate, and you'll go to hell' stuff i was taught as a kid, it took me a while to reject islam properly. (still haven't told family except my sister who is the least religious in my family)
was made to go to an islamic school in london for 4 years, as well as miss 3 other years of school cause my dad wanted me to study islam back in bangladesh.
currently agnostic leaning towards deist.
a few of the reasons for leaving:
the way islam seemed to restrict muslims so they stay muslim (don't ask certain questions, don't become an apostate you you'll be killed etc.)
silly rules that it seemed to me if any god existed, he would not be bothered about (don't cut your hair certain ways, don't listen to music etc.)
islams views on certain people (non-muslims, women, gays) which seemed a benevolent god wouldn't order
can't really think of anything else to put here
Welcome, Rash - which Islamic School in London was it?
