    Hi maxwell

That is an unfortunate and misguided view (and it seems scientologist in nature) but do what you want.

    Bye.

Anti-Psychiatry is not limited to the Scientology nutters. I've read some pretty compelling critiques of the profession from Szasz and Foucault.

    fuck you

I don't feel we're being too harsh here Muddy. Because this is essentially an ex-Muslim forum, so it is a pretty niche kind of place. For someone to just wander in and start asking random questions and then post an intro which is essentially just "I am a depressed theist" and then to respond badly to good advice like "see a counsellor", all the while this only has the remotest connection to anything Islamic or ex-Islamic. Okay you like a Muslim girl. Talk to her!

@ Maxwell: you can't go into a relationship expecting to "deconvert" a Muslim girl. If you like her, accept her for who she is, and stop being a moustache-twirling nit-wit.  Afro

I'm a social worker and I somewhat agree with his statement about the medical profession in regards to mental health. But that dosnt mean u throw the baby out with the bath water there can be benefit from intervention from professionals not always drugs but just counseling and lifestyle changes. But ate you sure this girl is interested in you? I've interacted with a lot of people with similar issues as yourself and they misinterpret behaviours of especially women towards them. I'd first make such the feelings are mutual and it seems your thinking of the future and how if something comes of this flirtation what can u do to make her change. My advice u can't make someone change. But if she's a person who is reflective and can critically think then I'd start by pointing out the absurdities in other religions. Then I'd talk about christanity and how ridiculous evangelical Christians are and how they don't believe on science and how their beliefs are bullshit. Then start getting her to see the absurdities in Islam. But it's something she will have to decide u can't make someone change just give them a nudge in the right direction.

He hasn't even hooked up with the girl and he's already thinking of how to deconvert her.  Cheesy

^ Yep, not only is that kinda creepy, but he says this in his intro

I'm a "Theist" myself but I don't think that should matter because I am not here to propose anything. I don't care whether or not people know what I know. I don't expect people to know as I do. And frankly I really don't care what people choose to hold as their views either

So why do you want to deconvert her?

You opened the thread by saying if we try to deconvert you from your theism it will be a waste of time, and then go on to say you might later need help deconverting someone from Islam.  Do you not find that somewhat hypocritical? What if she doesn't WANT to be deconverted? What if deconverting her will ruin her life and make her miserable?

Finally, if you need to change someone to make them what you want then they are not what you want but merely what you desire.  You should focus instead of finding someone who is already what you want, otherwise "It will be a waste of time for both of you"

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

I think Coker had a point when he indicated how strange it is that maxwell claimed he had a problem then saying we don't have the right to give him advice... seriously what are we supposed to do then?
