tried to outlaw what he did. And even then, they couldn't get rid of him.
Yes, by the end, there were plenty of unattributed smears on his mental health. Yes, by the end, he mainly just spoke to other protestors. But here was a man who became a powerful symbol for the right to peaceful protest, and showed himself to be rather more honourable in his actions than the government that was determined to ignore opposition to the invasion of Iraq.
I propose this as his requiem, lest we forget the slimy bastards whom we had the misfortune to be governed by:
