I think my family are ignoring the islam thing, they always have. I've questioned islam for years and they just roll their eyes like, oh here we go again. They think it's me being silly or childish. They fail to see how I'm with this guy BECAUSE i don't believe in islam and not the other wat around

I left islam because I don't believe in it. Because i left it I engage in things without guilt at a moderate level such as drinking and eating normal meat, and I have a white bf because I like him and I'm not racist.

Muslims stupidly twist this and say we left islam TO DO these things, ignoring the reality that we DO these things because we left islam

     Cheesy

    (tomayto, tomaato)

Tell me about it. Shit is fucking annoying.  Roll Eyes

I'm sure they didn't think of all those things. Basically, they meant, I can sleep around as much as I want and do everything legal as long as I don't have alcohol. When I asked why, they said alcohol causes you to do every sin.   Roll Eyes

Hahaha my parents say that exact same thing. Not that they're ok with me doing other things of course, but drinking is the "worst thing" in some strange way. I've gotten caught with boys in the house alone (and other places) and stuff as a teen.... terrible times LOL  Cheesy Even though it was crazy for those few days and I got grounded  Tongue surprisingly they got over it. Well, my mom did.... She didn't ever tell my dad because she claims he would freak the hell out, and want to kill me or something.  Roll Eyes

Growing up in a Muslim family, I guess making out with a boy = sex, basically.  Cheesy
Well the funny thing is I didn't even kiss those two boys they caught me with... but I kissed a bunch of other guys.  Tongue

Rather be forgotten than remembered for giving in.

Islamic upbringing re sex fucks us up and makes us confused/ashamed of having a sexual feeling. It leads to many muslims having lame relationships, getting used and abused, as well as having unhappy marriages. There are so many divorces amongst brit muslims because of this and because muslims stupidly try to keep thick backwards ideas and ignore reality, they expect their kids to remain virgins and totally away from opposite gender well into their 20's while they acquire the right qualifications to get a well paid job/educated husband. THEN they expect them to marry and have a normal healthy relationship! It's like slapping a kid every time he touches his penis and/or punishing a boy for catching him masturbate! This will only fuck them up!

Yeah. I just don't understand how anyone in their right mind can think that someone can go their entire life without having any sort of relationship with the opposite sex and then BAM, get married and be in this serious relationship for the first time in your life and view that as being totally normal.

    Ummmm.  lipsrsealed

You know, it may work for some people (in the long run) but don't tell me they don't have any fucking issues.  Roll Eyes

Personally, I can't see myself having done that typical Muslim formula bullshit, because the relationships I have had, I have learned multiple things from each of them. I've learned what I like and don't like, what I'm comfortable with and uncomfortable with, and the qualities in a person I cannot stand and the ones I really admire. (and i haven't even had that many relationships yet. So much more to learn...) It teaches you about yourself and other people. So I just cannot see objectively how people can get married all of a sudden without having previous relationships and be alright.  Huh?

It works for them because they have completely different mentalities and perspective from you. What you value (autonomy, freedom of choice) they might not value, and what they value (stability, defined roles) you may not see as being that important.

Reality- forcing people to have no relationships but one is a narrow way to ensure they are 'happy' together- it's based on the what you don't know won't hurt philosophy.

Islam pushes this on women only, given men are allowed sex with slaves/concubines as well as multiple wives.

This leads to the obvious- cock. If you're a man with a small cock you don't want to be with a woman who knows any different. If yours is the only one she's had/seen she'll assume it's normal/good. Men who are so desperate to have a virgin bride obviously have small cocks- esp. since many men who want this strongly feel other cocks in a woman will loosen her so he won't feel anything- translation, he has a small cock

In every Bengali wedding I've been to, when the wedding ceremony is finished and the bride is about to leave for her husband's home, she ALWAYS cries. And it's never normal crying - out of sadness or something like that - it's always straight up mental-breakdown crying where the bride can't even physically support herself - my sister-in-law had to be carried by her brother to the car. It's practically a tradition for the bride to break down like that during a wedding. Roll Eyes I can't blame them - they're leaving everything they know behind and settling in with strangers. It's sad how such ridiculous customs that cause so much distress are supported by the community at large.
