  • Can Virgin Media get any-more stupid???
     OP - January 14, 2012, 01:28 PM

    See this email:

Good news - we're giving you even faster broadband, for less.

You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages.

These are nice extras we do to make you smile. We call them Virgin Media tickles, and we only give them to people we know and like - our customers.

Our ongoing commitment to offering the UK's fastest broadband.

Virgin Media offers the fastest broadband speeds in the UK*, as proven by Ofcom for three years in a row. And we're committed to keeping it this way. Which is why we're upgrading our award winning fibre optic network over the next 18 months.

As part of this upgrade, you may have seen we'll be doubling many of our customers' broadband speeds. But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead.

    and then this:

    Hello there,

Oops! That last email, 100Mb Broadband Announcement, was sent in error.

Please ignore this, and rest assured current Virgin Media Cable Broadband customers will be receiving some good news about their broadband in the next 2 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I should probably switch to Virgin media.

Who cares, they give you 6 months free spotify premium.  Grin  that's a winner from any company.

Sadly I am not with them anymore.  We had a difference of opinion on a bill or 2.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Wow, that speed is impressive. My speed in US is around 20 MB/S download but that's enough for me.

Oh, you should have hit me up before, I could have gave you 31 days free. Wait I think I might still have the special invite. You do need a paypal account though, but you can cancel it straight away, you can have a paypal account without using a credit card too.

My up load alone is 10MB. I run a server now and then, so I need more speed! preferbly upload speed, but 100MB download creates a problem. It's like I can download more porn faster then I can watch it.

By the way I am going to try and swindle 6 months free spotify from them, since I sighed up before the offer.

I already have premium spotify.  I don't mind paying cos it saves me the hassle of putting songs onto my phone.

No seriously, £9.99 for music I can get for free anyway. Abit of a rip off, but I see the appeal to it if I get a car or something then to directly stream them to my deck.

Well I only pay for the sake of travel music.  It is a rip off, but I probably would have spent that money on stupidness.  I have a history with money stupidness.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

^I just tried that. First 3 clicks were samples, the full version was 114kbps, and it doesn't play when seeking :S. Spotify is only 5/10 pounds a month. That's a price I'm willing to pay for 320kbps music, exclusives, mobile feature, good layout and search tool, flawless streaming speeds etc.

I can get 320 kbps from the app - search for single tracks and it shows all bitrates. Can preview or download.  On the site I listen to full tracks and watch videos no problem, no charge.  Huh?

The first site isn't working for me, I downloaded the app from somewhere else, can't find any 320kbps tracks. :/

Not sure why, I find them for quite a lot and with Virgin Media's speeds they download in about 2 seconds:
