  • Moving to Australia or Europe
     OP - December 05, 2012, 10:54 AM

How's it like for British Ex-pats in Australia, am not thinking about moving there permanently (family not not even agree with me moving there period) however, I was thinking it would be nice to at least get into Australia (namely Perth have family friends there) for at least 5 months ever year, i.e. from Nov - April do you still need a visa for this? And what type would you need, and also what if you also tend to be a British Student (Full time) can you still study at a university in Perth while you're there? What are the obstacles how much savings to you need to have to get past immigration?

Looking out to rent, not more then £350pw something nice, doesn't have to be too flamboyant.

The other place I was looking to move was Germany, or Portugal (bad ass cocaine there) possibly in late 2013. At the moment I am trying to convince my family to let me go for study, in any of these countries, I have a cousin in Portugal he is studying dentistry over there. Am really fed up with my life in the UK, its so mundane am getting old (almost 30 years old) and I've not enjoyed my self.

Right also another question, does anyone know where someone can get a fake admissions letter from a university in Australia? Just to convince the parents and the mrs?

Dude, you should e offering me a room, and saying something like: "Don't worry tut you can come live with me". I mean in a non homo way. Anyway, where about in Aussie do you live?  You should have some contacts, for some renting out property?

University fees are ridiculously high for international students so I don't think you can count on studying in Australia unless you've got tens of thousands of dollars saved up; those on student visas are also forbidden from working over a certain number of hours a week so earning a living would be very difficult too.

You can get info on the different types of Australian tourist visas and which one you'd be eligible for from here:

Btw, if you're 30 why would you need your parents' permission to travel? And why the need to lie to your wife and parents?

I've watched my immigrant friends drop out and get full time jobs. Also, a girl who spent all her money ($17k) and ended going back to her country without graduating.

Rent on the other hand, a room on or around campus is about $150 (I'm talking Perth metro. No idea about other cities). Rent on campus includes your electricity, internet and a pool ($200-ish according to the 2013 guide)

My family are pretty well of ish, but typical like most desi families very tight with cash, as if they're going to take the money to their grave or something. So the money problem I am not too worried about, actually I was one of the members on here who wanted to see higher tuition and university fees in the UK. That didn't go down too well. lol.

I don't need their permission if it was my own money, but since it's their money I need their permission. If you get what I mean, I don't work I'm a freeloader, I find it easy and very enjoyably to spend other peoples money. Lying to the wife, is something which I need to do, otherwise she would not agree with the idea, she's already trying to push me into getting a job so I can pay my dad back for the house he bought us. She's out of her mind.

I have a entailment mentality, I was spoiled as a kid trying to change that now is too late. I've hardly ever worked for anything.

I'm not sure if Brits are eligible for something called a "working holiday" (google it); you work but it's sorta a holiday so I'm not sure if your dad would be willing to finance that...

Don't worry, am totally fine with, you saying whatever you want to say about me, I'm pretty cool with that, am totally not bothered about it. I've been called thinks like elitist, coconut, arrogant, narcissistic, sexist, racist etc, its fine there's no need to bite your lip about it. Well being a moral nihilist it doesn't really affect me.
