     OP - January 24, 2013, 10:13 PM

    Hi gang,

I'm secretly an ex-Muslim because I fear the reactions of my family-members.
And I don't want to loose my Muslim friends.
I haven't got any other friends, actually.

    I'm wondering:
How is your relationship with your family? Do they know 'it'?
Did your change your social network? Or do you still hang out with Muslim friends?

I hope to hear from you!  Afro

    Schatgravahhhhh!! Tongue

    I am an ex-Muslim too

My older sisters know it. I have two older sisters and they are both cool with it.
It didn't really change my social network. The group of classmates that I hang around with are cool with it. Only one of them is a Muslim
    and he's very liberal.

My relationship with my parents is a bit different. With my dad switching to the Islam channel whenever I walk in the room makes me suspect something else. Otherwise things are all cool.

Welcome to the group mate Smiley I just joined a couple of days ago

Hey welcome to the forum man.

I'm still in the closet. I am going to come out after I graduate university and get a professional job.

After starting university this year I dumped all my muslim friends.  Now I'm slowly starting to restructure my entire social life.

I have no regrets. Trust me dump your muslim friends and befriend people who are actually worth your time.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

    Wow, that sounds contradictory.
You are still 'in the closet', but you haven't got any Muslim friends left.
    Is your family not suspicious?

@Naerys, where can I find that stuff? I can't find any info. Maybe it's because I'm not interested in the why but in the how.
I want to know you social networks change...

    Are you from the Netherlands?

I didn't tell anyone. It's impossible to tell them this without facing a cruel future. There's no way anyone here will ever accept it.

It isn't that bad, right? If they'll only get upset? They'll get over it eventually... Or am I wrong?

^LOL. I actually looked up "schatgraver" and figured it out but for some reason I thought you were "schatgraver" and had changed your username. Sorry for the confusion, my mistake. I forgot to edit the post after I saw your intro and realised you were a different member Cheesy

I don't think they'd get over it, ever. That's the thing with Islam. Could you get over your child living blissfully and happily…all the while angering god and leading themselves to a fiery pit of eternal torture? To a devout Muslim parent, it's like watching your toddler run towards a cliff or something. You just can't accept it.

    This x1000

I make so much fun of Islam in front of my family, but they never get the hint. I troll so hard and they even laugh with me sometimes. lol. But my dad has directly told me that if I ever converted to another Abrahamic faith, he would throw me out - and that's with people who worship the same god so imagine atheism XD

I'm very social in general and for the past month I have stopped answering calls and txts and people are noticing. I'd like to delete my facebook but it' not the same as missing a call, where you can just say "It was on silent", deleting facebook is too deliberate. My goal is to be "too busy" to make time to see my Muslim friends and only keep in touch with my liberal friends. Sad because I like them, but we are too different to get along, I can't stand the religious bullshit any more mysmilie_977

And a big FAT welcome to you Schatgraver! Smiley

Thank you so much for that big-ass welcome of yours.

I am from the Netherlands.  Afro There is soccer every-where and the dutch always beat the Macros and the Turkish people here, I try to play at their side and connect with those liberal guys. They tend to be very intelligent too, that's awesome, because they know what to think of islam, without rancor or aggression.  whistling2

@Jila: do you want a 'slow death' for all your muslim contacts? Why not say it plainly?

Another question: how come my other posts are deleted? I tried to make a statement for comments in 'in the ring', but they are lost every time I re-check that shit.

@Jila: What is this supposed to mean:

"You and I are not Muslim, because we are born in a Muslim family. You and I are not Muslim, because you read a book about Islam, or saw a Youtube video and decided to become Muslim. We are Muslim, because Allah chose us.
    Allah chose us."

^I tried talking to her and she went all "oh, so you want to be like them and drink, party and go to discos". Roll Eyes She thinks that's all non-Muslims are about; she somewhat has a point in that I can't go to their parties and stuff like that so I'll always be a bit disconnected even if I was allowed to socialise with non-Muslims.

It's a quote from a douche bag Muslim preacher who must be on crack as he gives speeches.

Forget that your family indoctrinates the living shit out of you as a child, sometime even beating Islam into you - he reckons the sadistic Allah chooses people to be Muslim. He clearly didn't choose hard enough. lol

Al Alethia, I hope you make plenty of new friends at uni.

Thanks Jila; just a couple or even one real friend who I can be open and honest with would do.
