If people in Cleveland can eat their chili with spaghetti under it and Fritos on top of it, I bet they have flying green elephants, too.
    Just crazy, what happens there.

Well, I have lately been working on looking into mirrors. Maybe I should make fierce faces, without laughing at myself.

Lol it wasn't a daily thing, I was in a really down point, felt like giving up. It was just a fleeting moment while I was shaving. Still, the point is it's about resolve. I won't be controlled, not even by my own conditioning. If you can, go out of your way to do things that frighten you. Don't do it to be frightened, do it because you can. If there are things you want, do them. If it's hard to get, grit your teeth and soldier on. At east that's what I did. I prefer that approach to "I'll do it tomorrow". It's always going to be tomorrow.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Ah. I pictured it being a repetitious thing.
I have been doing that, too. Today I drove into the city for the first time in a year. Hung out in a crowd, or two. I kept forgetting my English, but at least now I know I need more practice.
What did that Buddhist nun say? "Abandon all hope". She said hope makes you wait for change, instead of instigating change.

Can't say I agree with that. Hope can be an incredibly powerful motivator.

Oh, and I went to a mixed gender amateur Beladi performance. Mostly women, but still.

Hope for me turns into wishful thinking, which then becomes magical thinking. Which is pretty self-delusional. If what I hope is not a possible future that I can achieve through effort, I try to discard it or change it into something more realistic.

The gender thing in islam is so fucked up in my opinion. It's destructive on so many levels.

Hope doesn't have to be sprouting wings and fluttering away. Hoping things will get better, that you can find the drive to do this or that, is very potent hen mixed with determination and willpower.

I had a ridiculous mystical experience and it set me up for faith. Everything I had available to me, literature- wise, was apologist or pandering to Islam. My husband at the time was very nice. He was not practicing, but he believed. So I was already in the community. I had an unorthodox and difficult childhood, with no parental guidance. Islam is the ultimate parent. It most likely filled a vacuum within me. There are instructions for every little thing.

Ridiculous mystical experience - did it involve mojos or coincidence or hot air on a beach?

Parental Guidance? No father. needed a father figure. It is very important to have a father at home (imo). The presence of a father supresses the physical maturity of his daughters, merely his presence. Girls, scientifically proven (not checked but I know I think) develop physically much faster without a father. In my opinion many girls are way way physically mature before they are emotionally mature.

Girls are different to boys in this respect.

Not talking about anyone on particular but I have mis-spent a lot of time in pool clubs, since the age of 11, I mean I would know the owners their wives (one particular hot one, I am 12 made me be good at those question arcade games/general knowledge and made me like American Pie, the original tune). Anyways all the waifs and strays, blonde/brunette in boots that turned up on her own was without that family 'balance', see them all the time, since 11, I am 44. Vulnerable to men, all sorts of normal men.

Girls bodies change, they get looked at, if not responsibly and practically dressed, they will notice the different look men give them, some will be exploited because of this, some will use it to their advantage.

Example - Three blokes, an English an Albanian and me, in car, leafy environment, warm day, girls on side, one in shorts. From fifty yards, she had shapely limbs, easily 19, the English dude, the youngest of the three, shouts something as we pass near, we look back, she is 13/14, matey boy dies of embarrassment. But what affect on young girl?

I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged. Footloose n fancy free, forced to fit, fated to fly. One or 2 words, 3 and 3/thirds, looking comely but lonely, till I made them homely.D

No, nothing like that. I saw the Ka'aba for the first time on TV and collapsed. I was overly impressed by that at the time, since I don't normally collapse and all.
I had parents, though my father was mostly absent. They just were not involved with me. I did whatever I wanted, and was not particularly bright about it. As long as I cooked and cleaned, I had license.

So you saw too much in a coincidence. Imagine if a Tom Cruise movie had been playing, would you become a Scientologist?

Perhaps, I am not getting the American cultural reference, usually I google when I meet one on American comedy shows especially family Guy. Curb Your Enthusiasm et al. I also google all references to popular food on American shows too.

ETA - I read that back to myself and thought - you want a medal? Lol

It's a weird food. I think it's a Cleveland thing. Cleveland, OH. I can't remember what they call it.
The head of Scientology is the Sea Org. I thought some of those members were called Seabees. Maybe I was mistaken. It's not as if I have ever met a Scientologist. I just read their books when they leave. They have some mysterious luxury compound. I have no idea what it looks like.

I hear it looks like the ka'aba. Maybe I shouldn't poke too much fun, after all it was real for you.

I bet it does. Probably it's a shiny Ka'aba, with a laser show coming out of it.

Pink Floyd - the backdrop to my revision of O levels 1985. Well both muslims and pink floyd were concerned by the moon, for muslims it is the visible for the Floyd's it was the dark side.
