The people who did it intentionally acted in a way to harass and belittle. I still wouldn't phrase it that they "attacked" a mosque, most likely because when I think of "attack" I think of damage to the building (brick through a window, kicking the door in, trashing the place etc.), but it was blatant harassment of a people, as far as I can tell, solely because they're muslims. It was intimidation at the very least. The worshippers had every right to go to the police.

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Not to forget you have children attending mosques and the elderly who may perceive it as a place of refuge and respite. A mosque is a safe haven for, dare I say, women too, who wish to get out of the home and socialise.

It was obviously a shitty thing to do, and I imagine the point was to distress the people, not only a feeling of violation in a safe space, but also likely making them feel nervous walking down the street. The fuckers who did it get no sympathy from me, But you get why I originally said I had a problem calling it an "attack" right? It's not that I'm trying to down play the actions.

Definitely mate. I understand completely. It wasn't a attack in the sense we are accustomed to, but the motivation behind is something that I can never understand. It's acts like these thatdawaghandists use to say "see they're against us" and generalise that to the whole non-Muslim population.

Sweet. Just wanted to make it clear I understand the potential and most likely desired impact on the worshippers and that I'm not in any way defending Dumb and Dumber.

Trust me I do introspect on how I can overcome it, just have had bad experiences with my boyfriends parents. I do talk to Muslims as well, its just I find that I only trust after figuring out whether they are nominally Muslim. I have a tainted view of things.

Be that as it may, your negative experiences do not correlate with the day-to-day struggles that some of us ex-muslims must endure. You may find the parents of your boyfriend to be intimidating people, but you could have been in a similar predicament and you would have wanted nothing more than to trade places with your boyfriend. Don't let white privilege taint your view of things if you're desirous of people from non-western backgrounds offering you their respect.

I did explain myself and did apologise.
