Edit, actually perhaps it was o 2 too, cuz I liked to listen to music, read poetry, and do my eyebrows lol, when I said not 2, I meant I wasn't dying to go and sleep around or drink alcohol... but when it comes to the little things that are haram such as the bove examples, then yes.. sure

I think Baal has made an absolutely brilliant post there, and I agree with him utterly.

Muslims I've encountered tend to lump apostates into category 2. Funny, because I was a muslim when I did all that 'evil' shite like drinking alcohol and shagging and listening to raunchy songs. Yet I have now come to conclude that doing so ISN'T actually bad - and I've still yet to have guilt-free sex Cry

HAHA I totally relate- when I was muslim I was degenerate- damn it i haven't touched alcohol (literally) in 6 months! I haven't been to a club since I left islam! WTF is going on!!!

Islam is illogical- muslim people have these contradictory nonesensical ideas:

Something bad happens- god is testing you (to what end? for what purpose)
Something good happens- god is rewarding you
Something bad happens to non believer- they're being punished
Something good happens to a non believer- it's the reward from Shaytaan!

The illogical crap- natural disasters are deliberately done by god to punish the wicked? When a muslim country suffers the people weren't muslim enough! It sickens me! When non muslims suffer the muslims rub their hands in glee and say 'see, this is their punishment' and they feel so smug, then when muslims suffer they blame it on everyone else and say how they're oppressed!

Islam is a religion where everything is right at the same time- even the things that contradict. What made me question was the women's status- Islam constantly harps on about equality while objectifying women, relegating women to objects. It angered me!

What ultimately lead me to leave islam is my arrogance- I don't like being told what to do and I don't like being told that I'm inferior just because I'm a woman despite the fact that I can do as much as most men and more than many men! Many times I wish I was different- leaving islam has not cost me my actual life, but I've lost my life. My family wants nothing to do with me. I wish I was ignorant, I wish I could just be like all the other hypocritical muslims and live the bullshit lie, believe in it even while manipulating and changing it to suit my lifestyle!

Unfortunately I can't be a hypocrite. One thing is true that for muslims it's better to be a muslim whore than to be an atheist saint. It's perposterous. My family abandon me because I don't believe in god and all the magical ridiculous stories- despite the fact that in every other way I live my life in a way that is the same as many other muslims!

Mount A Bison I really enjoyed your post on people believing what makes them happy- it was something I was thinking about and couldn't articulate- great job!

Very interesting. I think for me it's all three of the options you listed:

My father was a total dick to my mother since I was little so that definately played a role. I remember being angry with god for not helping my mother even when I prayed for help. In my introduction post I said I could remember thinking there was something fishy from the age of ~12 (but I think the very first seed was my old man because that started from when I was very little). I watched a Yasir Qadhi lecture on how a parent shoud raise their child (although their is some bullshit in the lecture it had a lot of genuinely lovely advise). Lol my old man broke EVERY rule mentioned. http://tinyurl.com/b6gwgmk (if you want the source).
I became an 'ideological converter' (i.e. realising there are some serious flaws in Islam) years later (in my 20s) after several long discussions and much reading with my like-minded friend.

And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Bertrand Russell

    My theory about ex-muslims:

    They don't agree with Islam.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

Are you implying that I'm not a TRUE Muslim?
