"An Egyptian court has sentenced a 21-year-old student to three years in jail for insulting Islam after police discovered he declared his atheism on Facebook. The young man had been harassed for his atheist views and had his own father testify against him."

I am heartened that more and more are coming out though - and I salute these brave young people. The more come out the better it will get in the long run.

In the short term these brave souls will suffer. I hope they release him early.

at least the "bath-house debauchery" people have been reprieved in Egypt

Abu Ali: As sad and outraged I am about what happened to the poor guy, I can't help but feel good that more and more are coming out. Egyptians were outraged when Ahmad Harqan in a live interview announced that he is an atheist. Specially because he had dedicated his whole life to studying Islam and he knew the Qur'an inside out. I feel so bad for what happened to him and his wife though after they lost their unborn child due to abuse of the police.

Just finished watching that - thanks so much for posting it Ishtar. I saw his previous discussion - but hadn't seen this one. It was awesome - brave guy, he has my greatest admiration and respect. I left him a comment of support!!

Seriously, that muslim cleric pissed me off several times. He kept interrupting Ahmad, and I really admire Ahmad's patience. I would have lost it myself several times if I had been in his place
I posted on the video aswell and ended up receiving death threats on my youtube channel lol.
