    Ironically Shabbir Ally is partly an example of why I think 'reform' has been happening in the West, for the last two decades. He has an interpretation which is a hybrid.

    I believe Islam is being "reformed" little by little, as evolution of humans and their surroundings is inevitable. The more enlightened humans become, the less likely they are to believe in silly superstitions. When the burden of religion becomes too heavy to bear, people will have to lessen the load somehow. And there is no doubt that the burden of religion is becoming too heavy to bear in the muslim world.

    But all religions can only be "reformed" to a certain extent, what matters in the end, is what kind of approach is adopted towards superstition and fairy tales. And that is where muslims IMO are failing the most. Muslims don't believe their religion to be true, they know for sure that its true. There is no faith involved. Which is why their religion is holding them hostage.
