  • Raising secular children but dealing with religious family
     OP - December 20, 2015, 04:46 PM

Hi, I would really like to get advice from any Egyptians on here. My children have been raised by me(  a secular) in Britain after separating from Muslim husband in Egypt. It is very difficult to keep up the appearance of being secular and openminded about religion from  their family. How can I help them? They would like to go and continue their relations with their family but always struggle of having to make pretences in Egypt. they dont know their family very well, as they have been in the UK for most of their lives. They feel that revealing their true feelings on religion will create a bigger distance for them.

How old are they? Do they grasp the idea of belief and what it would mean to their extended Egyptian family?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
