  • Who's doing Eid tomorrow?
     OP - September 23, 2015, 03:25 PM

I'm excited for it, as I am for any opportunity to celebrate. Happy Eid to everyone celebrating! Smiley

I hate Eid al Adha. I hate the fact that people butcher their sheep in the parking lot in plain sight. I hate the fact that my mother cooks all kinds of disgusting parts of our sheep and those dishes look and smell horrible. I hate the stink that doesn't leave for days. I have grown to hate family gatherings too because old women keep telling me to lower my standards so that hopefully next year I will be married inshallah.

Good thing is that the poor animals will be silenced for good tomorrow so I won't have to be woken several times a night by distressed "baaah" sounds.

    Eid mubarak grin12

He's no friend to the friendless
And he's the mother of grief
    There's only sorrow for tomorrow
    Surely life is too brief

Awww, different experiences then! I would hate Eid to if we did it like that. Thankfully there are no sheep in sight and we're going somewhere fun tomorrow. I also don't have to go to Eid prayer so that's definitely a bonus.

Hope it's better this time Smiley

Lamb is my favourite type of meat. When it's fresh and cooked to melt in your mouth, all the better. Noommzzzz Yum Yum Yum Yum

Hajj. When millions of people spend thousands of dollars to kiss rocks, walk around rocks, run between rocks, stand on rocks, sleep on rocks, and throw rocks at rocks.

    Then kill lambs.

^ When you put it like that, it sounds like muslims are just following ancient traditions of a bunch of rock worshipers....... oh wait!

I find the whole concept and folklore behind this Eid immensely absurd and inhumane. We are actually celebrating a deluded fathers madness who was willing to sacrifice his son just because he heard some imaginary voices in his head . If some Pir, saint, baba or even Allah asks me directly to kill my child to prove my love for Him...i will show my middle finger to Allah and tell him to go and screw himself.

How much more insecure and under confident this Allah can get who is asking his creation to sacrifice their children for his love.... I am totally against this ritual and detest the whole concept behind it.

To all relatives and friends who ask that why I don't do Qurbani , my answer is always (every year) that I will rather give the same money to some poor instead of killing an animal for the sake of some imaginary being....Angry

If he lived today people would put him in a mental hospital and child services would take the kid. Which is the right thing...

Everyone tried to get me to eat meat on Eid al Adha. Like I couldn't be part of it unless I ate meat. Like I want to sit back on a holiday and puke the day away. Thank goodness there are no sweet old ladies trying to force bits of meat into my mouth anymore.

I understand that it isn't for everyone but lamb is yummy!  dance

But as stupid as it is to sacrifice all those sheep, I do not understand the outrage unless you are a vegetarian. Many turkeys are slaughtered for Christmas and Thanksgiving every year and at least the sheep we used to "sacrifice" were given away to feed the poor. If you eat meat then clearly you do not have a problem with animals being killed.

    Happy muslim Christmas/Eid! dance

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

I am a vegetarian and I think people ought to eat meat. It is the most direct way to get the proper nutrients for developing bodies.  I think many people have an issue with the gluttony characteristic of Eids.
