I will allow that a Muslim might have been on a Viking longboat and thus got to North America without taking smallpox and a myriad other things with them, but what was the effect of 1492 and all that on Islam?

The effects were huge across the planet, how did Islam respond?

See also Crosby . Don't assume this is only about chocolate tomatoes and potatoes and earthworms , it is definitely about ideas

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

The Columbian Exchange:  A History of Disease, Food, and Ideas by  Nathan Nunn and Nancy Qian

that paper has very good info on agricultural products and their production in various countries moi.,but what i don't get is  your question., ... but what was the effect of 1492 and all that on Islam?... which is trying to couple that work with Islam..

it is interesting to explore that question in a slightly different angle..  Instead of European colonization of old world  during medieval times say some 14th century to end of 19th century ,If Islamic conquest occurred  and Islam spread in to the  so-called old world    North and south american continents.,   what  would such Islamic North and south american continents look like now?

that is an interesting question ....

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim
