In the Quran, when it says that Allah will preserve the body of the Pharaoh as a sign, how did people of the time of the Quran know that ancient Egyptians mummified their dead?

I'm certainly not an expert on Egyptian history, so I was just wondering.

hello Mothra123., good to see you reading the forum and reading quran. You questioning Quran and exploring answer for such questions is very important to Islam and to every Muslim., So your question is ...

well answer for that question is very simple., if we know

1). when Egyptians Started mummifying the dead bodies
2). When did Quran became a book that we see now
3). Does bible mention anything on mummifying the dead bodies;;

So if we know answers for those questions, the answer to your question becomes quite clear ..Any ways let me put that verse where Quran mentions mummifying the dead body of

Those three verses are from Surah "Yunus" verses 90-91 and 92..

There you go., Quran simply mentioned old bible stories that were floating around.,Some allah/god need not reveal such simple stories that were already told upteen times to the children in Arabian peninsula for 100s of years ..even 1000 years before Quran became a book.

Mummification was done for millennia prior to Islam. It was written about from a number of cultural foreign to Egypt such as the Greeks, Romans, Hebrews. It was written about in the Torah itself regarding Joseph. There is nothing special about knowing a practice that existed for millennia.
