Yeah, I think Islame mistakenly counted me.  I'm the only Irish person here that I know of, and I'm not an ex-muslim.

Plus, he forgot Emerald, who is an ex-muslim from Saudi Arabia.

I am from the UK - What country are you based in?

I was wondering whether our movement was predominantly one from the Western world, or whether those in Islamic countries were also beginning to break free from the religion.

For those interested in the results, I will compile a table here when it looks like most of the results are through.

Born Muslim, now Ex-Muslim - UK

In that case we are all Muslims.  According to Islam, if you have once been a Muslim, then you can never not become a Muslim.

No... That's more of a Christian thing, "Once saved, always saved". However in Islam, you've got to keep your guard, you can still die a kaafir and get Jahannam.

Now that I think about it, I remember a hadith that says, "even if once in your life you had a mustard seeds worth of faith, you will enter Jannah, eventually." So I wonder if murtads stay in the lowest level of hell for eternity, or we have a shot at getting parole? Wink

That's a misnomer. All of mankind is born upon the 'fitrah', the natural inclination towards monotheism. Not muslim.

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

If all of mankind is born with an inclination to monotheism why have most of the world's religions historically been polytheistic?

Yes but then Allah's Messenger needs to explain the inclination of the parents.

If that is so why is even a convert from Judaism or Xtianity to Islam called a "revert"?

If that is so why is even a convert from Judaism or Xtianity to Islam called a "revert"?

Because they are reverting back to fitrah - in Islam even Jews are considered Mushrikeen - they are supposed to worship Ezra.
