Because men are just a version of the female template, and there is no evolutionary advantage to excluding it (same reason we have DNA for tails!) - you will find many examples in nature where useless things exist

So we all start (in the womb) as females then male hormones kicks in and switch the sex from girls to boys, huh?.... so maybe men are created from women's ribs and not the other way around...
