  • Racism and Underachievement
     OP - April 12, 2009, 10:20 PM

It is absurd to say that institutional racism is dead. It is still alive in the form of Islamophobia. . One of the deepest expressions of institutional racism affecting immigrant communities, and one that has been long documented is the unequal treatment of their children by the education system. They are motivated, but knocked back by their experiences of the school system. They are often treated more harshly and viewed with lower teacher expectation on the basis of teachers? assumptions about their motivation and ability.

LAs are failing in their duty to combat racism in schools, according to OFSTED, Education system exhibits ?aspects of racism?. A quarter of authorities are not doing enough to promote equal educational opportunities. A Brighton University study found that the Britain education system is institutionally racist, with pupils and teachers vulnerable to abuse by peers, teachers and management. I discovered the element of racism in early 70s. National Curriculum does not reflect cultural diversity and minority pupils are being held back by native teachers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           London Borough of Newham was judged by OFSTED as unsatisfactory in tackling racism. There are big issues about racism in schools needed to be tackled but could not understand that Bilingual Muslim pupils need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. It is a crime against humanity to deprive a child of his mother tongue but in the name of integration every thing is fair. Independent schools are also racist in nature. The parents of a Pakistani boy who was racially abused by his classmates and teachers are suing St. Christopher School.

Education report by Birmingham Advisory Service recommends that school lessons should take into account cultural differences in order to improve pupils? performance. It calls for teaching ?the need for mutual respect and understanding?. Minority pupils are underachieving at school because the curriculum is racist. The study found lessons often failed to motivate or interest pupils because curriculum did not provide enough positive role models. The curriculum needs to be more balanced and less Eurocentric. Pupils grow up thinking there is no other playwright than Shakespeare. An ethnicity ?Tsar? should be appointed to reform British schooling. Muslim schools performed best overall, although they constitute only a fraction of the country?s 7000 schools. Muslim schools do well because of their Islamic ethos and a focus on traditional discipline and teaching methods. They teach children what is right and what is wrong, because young children need structural guidance. Muslim school is responsible for the development of the whole child. Muslim schools give Muslim children ?pride, identity and a sense of culture and languages.

I am a white British person born in England and living in Switzerland. I had school-aged children when we moved here. I did not assume that the Swiss were obliged to offer them education in their own language or culture. I thought that was my job, if I wanted them to retain and maintain any of that culture. I also felt that they would benefit from having their minds enlarged by exposure to different languages and culture. Why the difference for Muslims in Britain?

And while we're at it, how is so-called "islamophobia" racism? Islam is a religion, not a race.

Iftikhar usually drops in once a month and spams the same crap. Sometimes he even repeats exactly the same crap, verbatim. He never hangs around to be shot down in flames though. He's strictly hit and run.

This guy spams every single place he can with the word Islam or Muslim somewhere. (even anti-Islam sites)

I believe he won a court case some years ago and since then set up "The London School of Islamics" where he prattles on about how we need Muslim schools for everyone to be happy. I have rarely known him to engage in any discussion anywhere.

I saw this article on his website and thought the highlighted bit particularly disgusting!

    Honour Killing

A Muslim was jailed for life for slitting his daughter?s throat in an ?honour killing? after she embraced western culture and began dating a Christian. This is a tragic story of irreconciable cultural differences between a father who had a traditional Muslim upbringing, values and background and a daughter who was a thoroughly westernized woman. Father with strict Muslim beliefs murdered ?bright, vibrant? teenager who planned to runaway with Christian boyfriend.

A man with strict Muslim beliefs would certainly not kill his daughter. Such tragedies have nothing to do with faith or race. Her father could not control his emotions and his un-Islamic action is also liable for punishment under Islamic law. The tragedy could have been avoided if the poor girl was educated in a Muslim school by Muslim teachers. She is a product of de-education by state school. According to British law, the children should be educated according to the needs and demands of the parents but his daughter was educated to be a westernized woman, instead of a Muslim.

This tragedy is an eye opener for all those Muslim parents who send their children to state schools where they are exposed to teachers who have no respect for Islamic faith and Muslim community. There is a negative co-relation between home and school. The prime aim of schooling is to anglicize all children irrespective of their backgrounds. They are victim of institutional racism and Islamophobia. Already there are more than 6000 Muslim teenager girls in the custody of the social services, a product of the mis-education and de-education by state schools. Muslim youth are involved in drugs, prostitution, abandoning families, abortion and high rate of divorce. Muslim children need Muslim schools with Muslim teachers for proper growth during their developmental periods.

The silent majority of Muslim parents would like to send their children to Muslim schools but there are not enough schools to go by. The only alternative left is either British Government should introduce voucher system for parents to choose the school of their choice or designate all those state schools as Muslim community schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. There are hundreds of state schools where Muslims are in majority. Such schools may be handed over to Muslim educational Trusts or charities for their management. They are in a better position to educate Muslim children in accordance with their needs and demands. This demand is in accordance with the law of the land because there are state schools already managed by private companies.

I am a racist. I haven?t got time to list all the people I hate. I have good reasons to hate them.

Someone people need to be hated.

Yes, but to blame the "Kuffar"  Roll Eyes education system for the fact that a Muslim dad murdered his "westernised" daughter?

    As I quoted Iftikhar above

Iftikhar has stepped beyond just being a pratt to someone who justifies murder!
