  • How exactly do you feel about belief and believers?
     OP - September 10, 2009, 02:00 PM

    Guy's - How do you feel as ex-muslims towards people who believe or have faith, not just in islam but any religion. Do feel feel apathy towards them? Sorry for them? or something else?

    I myself feel apathetic towards "believers" themselves. However, I see all religions as man-made and not occupying any particular hierarchy. I don't respect any religion or it's tenents, because of all the wish-thinking and bigotry. What I do acknowledge though is the right for the individual to believe or not to believe. I am of the opinion that religion does more harm than good when it is displayed in the public arena. If people expect the right and freedom to practice "their" religion, then that right should be extended towards people of other faiths, they are equally going through the same dellusion as another believer. Unfortunately the faithful just won't leave the apostate from their respective alone. Particularly the apostate from Islam. It's a "curse" being born into a muslim family and having to go through the trauma of tossing it to one side. It would have been easier apostating from a different religion.

    I don't believe that there is a G-d, but I also don't believe there isn't... xD
    I'm neutral...
    I hate people who try to infect others with their believes, but I can be best friends with even Muslims as long as they don't dislike me for what I am.

    All religions are bullshit but some are more bullshit than others (Islam prime example)

    As long as someone keeps their beliefs from me I couldn't care less, the minute it starts to impact on me in anyway I either get really steamed or really pitiful towards that person.

    With Muslims, the stronger the belief the more it scares me. For example, especially when talking about the West as crusaders or this as propaganda or Kaffirs as outsiders. When it's silly superstitious stuff I just laugh inside (I mean dipping a fly into a drink).

    With Christians it depends, if they are the type who want to "save" you from hell by preaching to you, then I get really irritated and laugh at their bullshit at the same time. If however they are the type that are doing good deeds (Salvation army-volunteers etc) either because they think Jesus told them, or to improve Christianities image, it makes me respect them on one hand, but feel sorry for them on the other.

    Yeh I don't care if people believe as long as they aren't shoving their beliefs down my throat.

    I'm really worried cos so many of my mates are Muslim (although not very strict - they sleep around, drink, etc) until Ramadan, when they start praying and fasting  Roll Eyes I find that quite silly, but whatever...

    I only have one word for those people:-

    "HYPOCRITES"

    I strongly feel that if you genuinely believe in a religion and in god, then you need to take it seriously. Islam is a hollistic religion and not a halfway house. If these people are seriously engaged in these activities, they need to clearly take a hard look at themselves and stop making a mockery of the religion. You know take it or leave it.

    Yes, that's it for me too, as long as the person totally respects my right to believe what I want then I can be cool with them.

    Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

    I feel sorry for them... well, for the nutcases. They miss their only chance of living.
    But moderate religious people? I dont care about them as long as they dont bother me with their religion.

    PS: Berbs, stop getting sexier Avatars! I dont want to visit this forum, see your Avatars, and disturb my GF at what ever she is doing at the moment because i want sex all the time... its your fault!

    I know, it makes me angry...

    I remember when I was dating a Muslim guy (we had the same group of friends and still are mates), we had this huge debate about tattoos. Bearing in mind that when we first met and were very flirty he was very touchy feely, always hugging and kissing me...and later in our relationship we had slept together...

    He went on to say he thought tattoos were against Islam blah-dee-blah.

    I ended up in this huge debate with him about Islam and morality and god...oh it was messy. We were out for lunch too and we were both sulking whilst eating.

    I can see why we weren't compatible, he was a lovely guy but his beliefs were screwed up.

    His best mate is the one who sleeps around, drinks (my ex has only recently started drinking), and now it's Ramadan and they are praying and fasting.  Roll Eyes

    If they do say anything to me, then I think I'm just going to blow up in their face.

    Religious beliefs comprise of TWO main essential ingredients:

    * Munafqat (Hypocrisy)
    * Jahalat (Ignorance)

    Anything which is essentially made up of such aspects is primarily worth as much as bag of used condoms for our intellect.

    I feel sorry for them. Especially if they are scientists or highly educated. Cry
