    LOL Osmanthus.. as I read that I looked out my window and at the snow on the driveway (canada.. sigh) and imagined pissing "allah" in arabic in the snow.

    I wonder if I took a pic of it and posted it on an islamic website musulmans will declare it yet another sign from allah subhanawatala. A very haram sign lol.

    Links?  I only know of the old archive from an email list that is posted somewhere on al-islam.org.  I mean, I know ayatollahs this and that have websites but the last time I checked 'em out was only Arabic.  They have them in English now with fatwas and stuff?

    I can do it but it will depress the shit out of me. *sigh* I'll do it some day soon. I can give some examples, Sistani for example says abortion is haram no matter what; even if a woman gets raped. Another shia leader, madhab, said temporary marriage is ok with a prostitute as long as she knows the session is a religous one.

    Ha! I was a moderate Muslim, but still practising, so I avoided Islam Q&A as did a lot of others that I know. That site is run by Salafis. Worst kind of Muslim - the ones that won't hesitate to kill you if you apostate.

     grin12...its funny how i look at islam qa and have a laugh now...knowing fully well that not too long ago as a devout muslim i used to consult that same website for guidance and i foolishly recommended it to my friends who were interested in increasing their knowledge of islam Cry Cry....how i wish i could turn back the hands of time and made sure i never told anyone about that site...

    Check out Islamonline.net for a very moderate Islamic website. lol I used to visit the site if i needed info on certain issues.

    Not sure, I guess I've been through too many of these type of websites now and the fact that I still have serious doubts about Islam says it all really. I'm sure Muslims can make up so many reasons for many of the things which objective outsiders perceive to be immoral, stupid and illogical but at the end of the day The prophet and his Qur'an should be able to stand on their own merits and content wihtout crumbling, but it does not hold 4 me.

    Guess what, the solution is quite easy; Muhammad was a man of his time - he wasn't the greatest, most perfect, most sinless man who has ever existed. The hadith/sunnah are of dubious reliability and thus none of them should be considered Sahih.

    Those two changes alone with solve a hell of a lot of problems. The problem is that Muslims don't want to do that - they want to selective pick and choose and ignore the philosophical basis that sit behind how Islam is constructed.
